Actually, they walked him to his desk, had him collect his **** and then walked him out.

I'm not too surprised, this doofus has been on notice for a while.

What really surprised me was how quick he was able to empty out his desk and get his things. I would need a good couple of hours to get all my personal **** out of here.

I've noticed when firing people, consciously or subconsciously, they've begun to empty their desks beforehand. One of the first signs I see when someone has a foot out the door is their personal coffee maker, kid's artwork, etc starts to disappear. Even if they haven't been formally told they are on the way out you see them start to clean up their space.
If you've screwed up your employment, you know before you are ready to admit it to yourself. Usually one box is enough.

They aren't giving details yet, but I would guess it was for not following directions.

He has been disciplined recently for not following procedures (SOP's) and then lying about it....an action that could have gotten us in a lot of trouble with our clients if the mistake had not been caught.

I'm assuming it was another one of those, or he did something else stupid that just gave them the excuse to get rid of him.

It only takes me a few minutes to get my belongings everywhere I've worked. Even in the jobs at which I spent 5 years, it still only took a few minutes to get my stuff when I quit. I don't have personal stuff on my desk.

The only items in my cube that are mine are:

Headphones
Keyboard (I upgraded)

That's it.
