Witness the next Mondeo.
I also happened to be cruising the Ford of Australia website and came across these. ![]() Quote:
Turbocharged Intercooled 24V DOHC Inline-6 6-speed manual trans std. Brembo Brakes (4 pot standard, 6 pot optional!) 19" Wheels Alcantara-Leather Sports Seats For the muscle car purists you can also get this car with the DOHC 5.4L V8. You can also get it in a ute format. If Ford could bring these here the same way GM brought the Holden Monaro as the GTO for less than $40K, they'd sell far better than the Five Hundred Sedan (which is duller than a session of Icelandic Parliament) and I would seriously consider buying one.

Now of course, that'd would hurt the Mustang name and Ford would never do anything to provoke that...

And the Mustang could be a hell of a lot better than it is. Ford just needs a good swift kick in the backside to actually get up and do it. Handling package by Jaguar? |

the whole 'it will interfere with the mustang' argument has been beat to death repeatedly.
that's the same logic of saying ford shouldn't have released the explorer because it canibalizes F150 sales. the FPV falcon or typhoon under an svt badge alongside the mondeo and c1 chassis focus would be fords savior. the mustang buyer will always be the mustang buyer. as with the f150, silverado, camaro, etc. no amount of awesome vehicles will cause that demographic to stray, it's too deep rooted in the culture. |

Amen. Ford needs to do something. They have fast focus' overseas, fast mid sized, and full sized cars....but not here.
How is it an American Car manufacturer sells cooler cars in every other country BUT the U.S. and they wonder why their "customer base" buys Toyota |

I agree - the Mondeo in Australia, and the Focus in Europe, are both examples of great looking cars that Ford doesn't sell here. It's total garbage. That's why I have no sympathy for their current situation...giving the foriegn markets the nicer looking vehicles and leaving us with crap.

Don't all these overseas Fords (specifically the Falcon) have an IRS along with RWD and lots of power?? They don't cost an arm and a leg, yet anytime someone mentions why the Mustang still has an antiquated solid rear suspension, the same old "it's cheaper" or "a solid rear axel can take more power" excuse gets used.
Right now Ford has the same problem that GM had with the whole Cadillac line a few years ago. The Cadillac line had to have the most luxury features the most power (outside of the Vette of course) - basically Cadillac had to be the best (at least within the GM world) to justify it's higher prices... BUT since compared to the rest of the world it really wasn't that good, it forced GM to cheapen all the divisions so they weren't stepping on Cadillac's toes. |

I <3 FPV.
I <3 Holden. I can only wish they'd bring this here. Holden should be brought here and sold AS a Holden, and be a performance arm of GM. OR, they could simply become Pontiac and axe all the current Pontiacs. OR that doesn't make sense because the Pontiac name holds more clout here than "Holden" with older conservative buyers. And Pontiac already aims to be the performance arm of GM. I don't <3 America... ![]() |

its sad how America is one of the oldest and biggest car markets in the world yet it produces some of the worst cars among its peers.
