Unhappy 05 wrx- block swap

Hey guys,
First of all HELP and thanks for any info.
I have a 01 2.5 rs impreza. I was doing a motor swap to a 05 wrx and when the motor was installed i learned that the block was bad. So i have to swap the block out. I was offered a USDM sti block with forged piston.
The setup i have thus far is
05 wrx motor
VF 39
STi pink injectors
STi TMIC
gruppe s headers
Injen CAI
ERZ up pipe
ERZ catless downpipe
Greddy evo catback

Now my question is can i do a block swap with out engine management? Will this block work with the setup i have with any problems? The Mech was going to do a cpu flash for the setup i had with the wrx block. But since that doesnt work he said it will still work fine. What do you guys think? Also he wanted me to do a value job before the motor goes in. The Mech ported the wrx heads. What do you guys think? I am real new to this block swap. I have been having bad luck with this swap and just want it to be done and relaible. I want a fast car and also a daily driver if needed. Any input would be great. I have to make a decision tomorrow so please help me out guys.

Thanks

You will definitely have to tune for the 2.5L block, but you can use the 05 wrx ecu to do it.

yes what he said. you may also want to get a thicker headgasket to lower the compression.
