Angry Can the vendors here explain something to me?

WTH is so hard about responding to an email from a guy who has just told you he wants to buy $800 worth of stuff from you? I sent out an email to a vendor looking like this.

Dear vendor: I would like to buy an up-pipe, silicone intercooler hoses, and possibly an STi hoodscoop from you. Your hoodscoops are $300, so I was curious as to whether or not they were pre-painted since most other places charge $200. If they are pre-painted, I'll take one of them too, email me back and let me know.

No response for over three weeks, so, I send out a similar email to another vendor, still no respoonse after two weeks from them!

The Subaru community has some of the poorest vendors as far as customer service goes that I have ever seen. I have dealt with about six-seven Subaru vendors, and have only been fully satisfied with one.

I don't know if this is a Subaru problem only, or a problem with car part vendors in general, but it's so bad that I have thought about going into the car parts business myself, I know I could do a less half-assed job than a lot of these vendors.

Let me say that there two vendors(board regulars) who have lost over $800 of business because they are too lazy to respond to a simple email.

I try to respond as fast as possible. If I do not have a answer to a question I will tell you and also explain a time frame for when I will have a answer to the question. I don't think that anyone does it intentionally. Most business are just so busy or have so many emails coming in that it takes a large amount of time to get back with people. Also I have two different emails sent to me that had virus attachments to them. I don't think that the people realize it and I delete them. So I have not responded to them

Default Kinda agree, kinda don't

I kinda agree, and kinda don't with corn. There is one specific vendor on here who took a order for three gauges and a defi gauge pod in the latter part of August. They finally just shipped the third gauge, but has no clue when the defi pod will be in( find this hard to believe). But just the reverse for another three I have had dealings with( you 3 know who ya are..Dan, Darryl, and Jason). so I guess us clients need to keep the "vendors" area ipdated with rants and raves to see who will, and won't get the business.

But thats my opinion

Jamey

ps I'm not a vendor , but work for a Tire/Rubber Manufacturer....I only get 300 e-mails a day and respond to all of them within the first hour or so of my day ............ENOUGH SAID

Ya know... there is this thing called a phone. It's got this feature of immediate connectability, which I might add is very nice when you have questions about products that you'd like to buy before actually purchasing them.

Default i agree with 8

But there is one problem with eights logic......try calling the vendor i have in question( 5 rings"you have reached (name withheld intentionally) , please leave a message..this happens from 9 am till 4 pm daily monday through friday. So leaving a message on monday may possibly get a telephone responce by thursday( mine hasn't on many occasions) when i return another call to them to leave another message. Not that I haven't been calling like every 30 minutes to get someone to answer( luckily my pbx system does this for me ) ....so to eights comment I'm sorry but it doesn't hold water

but this is my .02

It's unfortunate. But it does have a name: Growing Pains.

Face it. The Subaru aftermarket community has grown from about 3000 customers a year ago to possibly three or four times that amount now. Not many businesses can keep up with that explosion in work and still stay in business. Lots of the old school guys did it for fun, and now it's becoming a full-time job that doesn't pay the bills. Keep hounding them, or go elsewhere for the business. Eventually they'll all get up to speed.

Thats right, horatio.....a lot of vendors do this as a side job, they arent working FULL TIME as vendors, so they might be busy with other things.

I mean, when I started selling my skidplates on these boards as a little side project, it was hard to keep up with BOTH my JOB JOB and my little skid-plate business. I tried to resond to e-mails and help people as fast as possible, but sometimes things come up.

But on the other hand, they (we) are still vendors, and customer satisfaction is #1!!!

In this case, anyone know the phone # to TCG Motorsport? I emailed them for the vent mount/gauge combo last week. No words yet. I don't see a phone # from their site.

ahhhh...

attn: VENDORS time for some ethics here...

I very much support new vendors, people trying to start a business, or people who create a product and then face a heavy demand for it.

However, "new," "part time," and "start-up" vendors should be honest and straight-up with their postings:

1. tells us your situation, exactly:

"I'm new or I'm part time" or "product will not ship
until"

2. if you can't respond individually to customers because of overload, post a note on I CLUB..(I know Mark of Turbo XS does this for example. Thanks Mark).

honesty and communication are the answers....we're all big boys and big girls here..we can understand delays, b/o etc. but you can't get our trust without being ethical enough to be honest.

cheers
