Depends ... the "oem" part can change over time. Subaru may have contracted with a different supplier for the bolts so they look visually different than what was sold with your car.

If the dealer told you "go outside and see if this fits" that sounds suspicious. If they pulled it from a bin or some bags with part numbers associated to them it shouldn't be a problem.

so wait, you're upset about bolts? I would have just gone to Auto Zone if it were me. It's a bolt. Its not like they gave you a fisher price transmission, o wait, thats what our 5-spds are.

It is usually very easy to spot an aftermarket harware store bolt versus an OEM bolt.

I ordered and recieved factory bolts last week. There is an exploded diagram and part number for everything on your car. If you insist, i'm sure they can get the exact bolt you want.

do aftermarket bolts gain as much HP as stickers? Or is it just for weight savings?

i dont get it. if its the same material and quality, what does it matter if its an aftermarket company?

im sorry, i work in a motorcycle dealership and i cannot believe people come in for the most miniscule hardware, and then complain about the price.

maybe its just me?

Give me exactly what I want, no difference AT all... I want the little bit or rust on there as well. I want it right now. I'd rather not pay for it.

Gotta love good 'ole consumer mentality.

are these the ones that you were looking for? perhaps the middle one? I swear its OEM. That'll be 24 cents a piece plus tax.

Thats quite different. For the most part, a bolt is a bolt, given that it doesn't twist off when torqued down. An intercooler on the other hand actually has a great amount more to it, and the ebay intercoolers are pretty much the best bang for the buck you can get in intercoolers. Notice how they are the most talked about WRX part from ebay.

Ok, be prepared, here is the rant.......

ya know, rather than everyone bitchin' and griping about Subaru dealers they out to just look at themselves. Lets not be so darn lazy. Unless it is a bolt that is internal and you have no possible way to check the size of it yourself, then you should go to the dealer for the obvious stated reason. If it is something stupid like the size of the nut on your downpipe or the stud on your downpipe, go to a parts store and figure it out for yourself. Rather than trying to find things wrong with Subaru and trying to screw them over with bad warranty claims that were caused by modifications or your own f-ups, man up and do something for yourself. If your going to play, your going to pay. If the bolt works the same and is as strong as the OEM one then its worth the same as the OEM one in my opinion. Sheesh!
