Used combo of 400 and 600 grit sandpaper, duplicolor grey primer and graphite (gunmetal) paint, no primer. I wanted a flat look. (Fitting up the body kit, it didnt stay on that color, I removed it the same day and i'm painting it after I get done with these rims

These rims are 17" x 7" ADR's that I got from imprezziveJack yesterday, they were curbed and chipped, after some extensive sanding and a lil glaze, they primered up almost perfect! More pics to come when i paint it tomorrow.

this is how they looked before

Goddamn ricers... always gotta ruin the fun.
I have a CF CWii hood with scoop mesh painted black, painted gloss black brake claipers, limo tinted windows, black hood deflector, removed fog light covers replaced with black mesh, inside part of front fender vents painted gloss black, tinted stealth black taillights and 3rd brake light, , and blacked out front and rear star emblems. I think gloss black wheels will match on my car.

"Tastefully Rice" TM lol.....

So far I have heard:

*Rustoleum Midnight Black Metallic (bit too sparkly for my taste but might match my CF hood)
*Duplicolor Black High Performance Wheel Paint (Sold out in that color in every kragen, autozone and pep boys within a 20 mile radius.)
*Duplicolor Gloss Black Engine Enamel (Is engine enamel just as good as the High Performance Wheel paint???)

.
HELP! Thanks

I will post pics ASAP, i need to borrow my brothers camera. I have posted on here one horrible cell pic of the front pre tinted windows and tailights.

Oh yeah and I forgot to add my car is Crystal Grey Metallic with all these black accents.

Also forgot I have:

Black front and rear splash guards
Painted black trunk keyhole (drunken black accent painting session with buddies)

EvoSpeed, no offense but I'm not a big fan at all. I don't see the "tasteful" rice. Between the hood, the wing risers and blacked out tails... I would guess you're around the ages of 17-19? The car may look a lot better if it was black, but those mods don't work too well with your color. Hey, it's just my opinion so if you love it, good for you! Not trying to bash or anything.

Hey no problem all recommendations will be considered. I know people may not like the risers, hood, tails etc but i like em becaue they are different. Theres a guy with an 07 CGM in my town with CF hood, wingless and i had to make mine look different.

Actually im 25 but this is my first japanese car so im experimenting with what look i like. Eventually i will probably lose the wing risers, paint the hood CGM and get it dropped with some real rims.

For now, any recommendations on what color at least would match better for the rims? I like the silver black combination, it turns heads.

im not really a fan of silver and gloss black-- my bf has the combo, if you do do black id say flat black, prob look better. i have silver w/ graphite and i like the combo because the rims arent too dark, i had blue wheels before too... so whatever you do have fun with it!

Thanks for the response. I may rethink it and do graphite (readily available at stores near me) or flat black or maybe midnight metallic. I just saw a CGM ride a page or two back that looked clean with glossy black wheels but i will rethink it.

Graphite gray or gun metallic wouldn't be horrible color options.

For my headlights I did semi-gloss black and love the way they look, that would be another option. I don't like gloss black and I don't like flat black.

Oh and tail covers aren't horrible if done on the right color and style

for a silver car...bronze or gunmetal is what I'd chose; you kind of keep the metallic colors going. Black is too much contrast on a light colored car IMO.

I think im gonna go for a graphite or metallic dark great color to maybe match the CF hood color. I did a little photoshopping of my car with gloss black rims and it matches the limo tint but it does resemble hubcap steel rims with the hubcaps taken off. A little ghetto.

I know many will hate my car but it does look cleaner in person, as opposed to crappy cell phone pics. I've gotten only compliments on my car from old ladies, my bosses at work, my friends, and girls. Plus i like it so thats all that matters.

evo- do whatever you like, its your car! who cares what others say.

05- ive only used duplicolor and i like it a lot- it also depends on the prep work that you do before that helps make the paint last. i did mine last summer, did all the prep work and there still arent any chips.

mostly sanding. and cleaning. Start with 120 or 200 grit (may want to go with a lower grit if you have some curb rash - you can even it out some) then work your way up to 400, 600, 800...all wet sanding - less dust and the even is just a bit finer.

Clean again, dry, mask, spray primer, wait, spray base coat, wait, 2nd layer, wait, 3rd layer, clearcoat on top if you want...

I usually don't mount it for at least a couple of days just to give the paint more time to cure, but others just wait until it's dry to the touch and mount...
