Any brand really. Stick with name brands like Rustoleum, Duplicolor, etc. They're cheap, like $3-$4 per can. Wet sand the paint before you clear coat with 800+ grit paper (1000 grit if you can find it) and you should get a smooth finish.

Why do you hate to admit to it? Doesn't make you less of a man. She is a girl after all. lol

I think it looks really good. Especially with the pink sticker.

Stopped by a friend's place to paint wheels and didn't end up finishing until 6 AM... so I called in to work this morning.

I didn't get there until 7 PM due to bad weather conditions so I got a late start and cut corners/rushed. Overall it came out like crap. I didn't take time to properly clean the wheels or prime and it shows. I just needed to put my winter wheels/tires on that day so my time was limited. My only real complaint is that I stripped one of my friggin 5Zigen lug nuts and it's going to cost an arm and a leg to replace.

They don't look nearly as good as I hoped. Should have listened to Dez! lol

I'm probably just going to spray them all black.

The first set of wheels are going on a Satin White Pearl '09, the red/black set are going on my black '06 and the third set are going on a silver bugeye.

Question Please help with center caps

Regarding the center caps and since they are plastic what grit sandpaper have you guys used and should I primer them, spray them then clear them or should a primer even be used for the center caps?

I picked up Dupi-color sandable primer along with a charcoal metallic and a clear coat. I am unsure if I should sand the caps then primer them or just sand them with fine sandpaper then spray them with the color i picked and just clear them.

I called my friends paint shop in southern CT and found my answer thank you anways guys. He said I would need a 600-800 grit sandpaper for the center caps and no primer is needed just spray then with a few coats then put a clear over them.

So I ended up getting a spray and a clear for my center caps to match my powder coated wheels. Ended up finding a very close match called Charcoal Metallic

Haha dude, that was me! I work at that law firm. A couple of us work in that building. The Forester waiting in front of my car was a loaner from The Shop because my buddy just got his 35R'd bugeye built and we were leaving work to go pick it up.

We always see a few Subaru's driving around that strip.

Good job painting those caps. They came out great. They will blend in better when they get as dirty as the wheels.
BTW how much did you pay to get the stock wheels powder coated?

Thank you, A Subaru guy here in CT started powder coating a while ago with his friend and it was $75 per wheel.

This is what I have ready to go on my 08 WRB STi...05 stock STI wheels done in Duplicolor Pure White....will have them on car Monday.

I used 320 grit sandpaper, scotchbrite pads to rough surface after cleaning. Then 2 coats of Bulldog Paint Adhesive, with 3 coats of white on top, followed by 2 light coats of clear, 1 heavy coat.
