So they're not really painted, but they are a colored stock wheel.

RS 5-spokes. Powder coated DuPont Spartan Bronze...

I'm getting some sandblasting done on some 06 wrx wheels, any recommendations on the inside of the wheels when I paint them. We get a lot of snow and salt in mi.

I was advised that since I live in a state where we get snow and salt it's better if I just rattle can them, but you guys say powder coat, still debating, just got them back this morning from sand blasting and they look way better than they did when I bought them.

Here is the nutshell...
- The advantage of powder coating is that it is much more durable than painting.
- The advantage of painting is that it can be easily touched up if chipped or scratched, powder coating cannot be.

So...if you are hard on wheels (rally crossing, gravel roads, off-roading, etc), then I would recommend painting them and you will just have to deal with touching them up...often. If you generally take care of your wheels and are only worried about how they will fare through midwest winter driving, then I would definitely get them powder coated. My 2 cents...

Powdercoating is more durable than spray paint. However it can still be scratched and chipped. It's not bullet proof.

Timid, those look great!

powdercoating, if done wrong, will weaken the wheels.

I am sure even if powder coating was done correctly the cooking of the powder and wheels could weaken them. If we were talking thin aluminum I would be more concerned. These OEM wheels have a decent amount of material.

Would it be foolish to try and paint these Graphite?

They seem to be far more complicated as far as curves and dips compared to the wheels I see in this thread. I may be over my head with this one...
