What clear coat do you use? I can't find one that I really like. The SEM clear coat is okay but it gives me issues sometimes.

So I'm assuming you usually don't use a clear coat on your wheels? How do they hold up to cleaning and chipping? The stock Scion wheels I redid came out great. Then once I clear coated them, the finish looked like it was dusty and I was about to punch a baby I was so pissed off lol Maybe I'll stop clear coating them or find a better clear coat.

I've never clear coated any wheels that I've ever painted.
If you're going to apply it, standard rules of painting come into effect... You want to keep using light coats, and less than an hour between coats. I tend to average about 20-40 mins between coats. 1 run of primer 2 runs of base coat then a thin run of clear if I'm going to use it. If you go past an hour, then you have to wait 48 hours to run another coat...and that's no fun. -- Dave |

Powdercoated RS 6 Spokes:
![]() ![]() ![]() These wheels were in pretty rough shape prior to being powdercoated. They were fully sandblasted and then coated. They are my winter wheels and look brand new after 2 winters of abuse. IMO, powdercoating is the way to go. |

i'm going to use a 320 grit sandpaper.... prepwipe...
i think i'll only need 2 cans of bronze.. and 1 of clearcoat (do like 3 coats of color and 1 or 2 of clear?) thats the plan for the 6 spoke RS wheels anyway |

Has anyone had a problem cleaning painted wheels? I'm thinking about painting my stocks white. And I know white gets dirty easily, but it just looks nice!
Thanks By the way, great looking rims around here! |

You know, I'm masochistic enough that I'm thinking of doing white too. That dark blue us RSes get just looks so good with white...
