Default more top end power needed help

ok I have a wrx wagon with a k/n filter, a turbo-xs boost controller and right now I have the catback exaust off for a run at the track. My boost is set at 15psi with no problems. On the 28th of nov. I went to the track and ran a 13.63 at 98mph not bad, however my friend with a 94 z28 ran a 14.18 at 98mph. We then raced on the highway and he pulled on me I want to know what you guys advize me to do to the wrx to increase top end. I ordered a downpipe this past week along with a bov. As soon as I get the down pipe I plan to have a shop run 3in pipeing with no cat with a 3in mufler I know that will throw the check engine light but do not mind. I know that will be enough to handle the z28 but I will still want more. While I am installing the d-pipe I am going to pull off the turbo and port the turbine inlet and punch out the cat in the up-pipe. Do these free mods sound good or bad? I relize that I should just buy the aftermarket up-pipe, however I plan to install the mid-pipe later down the road and dont want to spend the money 2 times, seeing as the mid-pipe has the up-pipe built in. Please give suggestions for more top-end with-out replacing turbo thank you for any help

..don't know how you plan on punching out the cat, but messing with it seems like a bad idea. I'd be worried about metal fragments getting friendly with your turbine blades. Buy an aftermarket uppipe.

I did not think about the particles left over after punching the cat I thank you for bringing that to my attention. Any ideas on the more top-end problem? Also is the up-pipe worth the money if so which do you suggest for the best performance with least out of pocket. Also how much is it

first of all, just so you are clear about what you are talking about

you just need more power.
you dont need 'more top end'
you just need more power.

You get a better time at the strip than that car because you have more traction.

even though he has more power, he is going slower.

on the highway, traction isnt an issue. Only power and aerodynamics are. And he has you beat on both probably.

so, more power?

bigger turbo.
turbo-back exauhst
tuned unichip.

any/all of those will raise your power.
