The car will jerk and buck, the engine will make weird sputtering noises. Do not hit the limiter if you can help it. It is there to prevent disaster, not so you know when to shift.

I was reading somewhere that the computer remembers how many times you've hit the rev limiter. Is this true?

Who cares?...

Seriously...if a dealer pulled ecu info and found how many times you hit the rev limiter, what would that even prove?

so they know when you've been bad or good...

i seriously doubt the ECU is programmed to remember that, but i could be wrong. i suppose it would go a long way in determining the validity of a warranty claim, if your engine blew up or something...gee, this thing was bounced off the rev limiter constantly for 40,000 miles...i wonder if a manufacturing defect caused it to break...?
