d00d. I just cruised through AutoTrader...
Melody's in Kirkland has a 1997 GT Wagon, white, 38k mi, $17,999.

There are TONS of Outback wagons listed, as well as a bunch of 30th Ann. edition wagons in green.

FOR SALE :1999 Legacy 2.5GT
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, it's sad but true. I must part with my 2.5GT. I ride a Honda VFR750 6-7 months of the year here, so it's not worth it for me to keep her.

If you know of anyone in the Denver, Colorado area looking for pristine example of the last of the good looking 2.5GT's, please let me know.

Here's the scoop:

1999 Legacy 2.5GT, 5-speed, Silver with black interior, 2.5 165 HP flat four (all you guys/gals know that part), 25k miles, engine has seen regular oil changes with semi-synthetic oil only, 75% of the miles are highway miles, four wheel disc ABS, CD player, tinted windows, moon roof, alloy wheels and all the bells and whistles that come with the 2.5GT's, except leather seats.

I also have a set of 15" steel wheels with Michelin Arctic Alpins with only 6k miles on them. They made all the differnce in this long Colorado winter.

I'm asking $17,500 with the tires/wheels and CD player. Without the extra wheels and tires, and with the stock tape player in there, I'm asking $16,950.

You can call me at 720-988-8441 anytime, or email me at msabatos@ttiinc.com, or just reply to this message.

I'll try and get pictures as soon as I can.

Thanks,

Mark

Now you know I gotta post on this one

We have 6 used Legacy models over 1996 in model year, here are details on some:

1997 with 41888 miles (we've had this one in stock for 335 days, that's a REALLY long time... might be a dog) for $14,100

1998 with 34225 miles (50 days old)... our cost on this one is kind of high at $17360 (sell for $17,860?)

Kind of off the subject, but here's a Burgandy 1993 "L" with 67345 miles for $8967...

And then I have four off-lease L's and GT's that we bought at Subaru American Credit's off lease auction... two 1998's, one 1999, and one 2001. They range from $16860 up.

Of course, you could get into a new L for $18,882 here... $200 over invoice, 5-speed base configuration. Then you'd get full warranty, the new "phase 2" 2.5 liter engine, the added protection of the ring-type construction, the raised roof of the new body style (post 2000), and more... in my opinion, especially with the 3.9% short term financing available on new ones, that might be the way to go... but I'm happy to help with whatever you choose.

I think somebody should have been fired for that one. It's more than NADA's wholesale for a fully loaded GT ltd wagon. Was it the Owner's kid trading in their car? Or was it the state AG's daughter?

Can I know who the salesman was so I can get more than wholesale for my Jeep? (BTW I'm just giving you crap. Don't read anything into it.)

Hehe our system doesn't differentiate between Legacy, Legacy Outback, Legacy 2.5 GT, Legacy Outback Limited... etc. They were all "Legacy" models before 2000 (and really still are, just not "officially")

So it could be a loaded up model... but either way, it doesn't match this buyer's needs.

Oh, and btw, they don't make (and never have) a GT limited wagon. Outback limited, yeah, and GT ltd sedan, yeah... but no wagon (back at ya, hehe)

Bah. If I was paying attention to what I was writing I could have told myself that.
I was just clicking all of the options on NADA's website and typing here.
If they made a GT wagon with heated leather seats I would have bought one back in 99 instead of my Jeep. Such a dealbreaker.

No doubt on the heated seats! My wife would love the All-weather package on a GT limited but nooooo. It is only available on the Outback. So what do you do? The GT's look so nice and but the Outbacks come with the wiper and mirror defrosters. Oh well.

OK David... I'll bite. I've already got the Katskinz leather in my car... can you get a number to do a retrofit on the bun-warmers?

Sorry, the elements are inserted when the seats are reupholstered... so I don't think you can have it added retroactively (at a reasonable cost).

That being said, anything can be done with enough of a spend... still want to look into it?

When I was in sales here, Katzkin leather would do heated leather seats aftermarket... every Subaru I saw them in was great, but for some reason they blow the fuse in my friend's Xterra. Anyway, would be a good lead to chase if you're interested. I'd be willing to look into it for somebody.

Thumbs up

After going to many dealerships I think my wife and I have decided to lease a L or GT because we would have to put to large of a payment down to get our payments where we want. And by the time we have kids a house and stuff a used legacy would just have way too many miles on it plus we change cars about evey 3 years anyway. Thank's for all the help my wife and I appreciate it!

Well, I don't know if you're already committed to a lease, but if you're not... I'm happy to show you around one of ours (or evaluate one that you're looking at). Let me know if I can help.

We'll we did it my wife and I spent a agonizing 4 hrs at south tacoma nissan/subaru. We are leasing a 2001 legacy L timberline green for under 300.00 mo payments. The guys there are very nice but we almost walked out of their several times because they made us wait so long. We go back saturday to hopefully pick up the car and sign the contract. If it's not what we wan't or what they said then we're outta there! and back to the drawing board. Hopefully my next post on this subject will say finally we got the car we wanted and we're happy with south tacoma subaru. If not then oh well!!!!!

Good luck to you! I know a bunch of the guys over there at Tacoma -- real stand-up guys. Glad you chose a Suby, and not some cheap domestic.

Well just in case anybody still cares about this post my wife and I backed out of the lease, without getting to upset about this whole thing let's just say the numbers they said were not the numbers that appeared in front of us and we made it crystal clear what we could afford and they said thay could make it work. When it came time to sign the contract the price kept going up. I think we've decided to go with our original plan and buy a used gt wagon.
