Default Can someone explain the subfloor storage/tool tray to me?

The Subi site has only a very vague description and a distant picture.

Does it go in place of the spare tire? does it replace the entire carpeted/styrofoam area?

Any info you have would be helpful. thank you.

It goes on top of the spare tire well and just that area, then the original spare tire cover goes on top of it. The truck space stays flat as always.

Thanks joe. If there's any way you could take a close up pic, I would be quite grateful!

Sorry, I do not have one on my car, The reason I know how it looks and how it fits is because I have seen it on a demo car at the Subaru dealer.

I do hope someone else can help.

Bumping an older thread with a fitment question.

The cargo/tool tray didn't come out until MY 07 so on all the websites it's only listed for 07s. I have an 06 and I know it's like 98% identical to the 07s but the spare tire well isn't something they changed is it?

Will this fit an 06 wagon without issue?

I've got the tray for our 01 Leg OB and love it so I want to confirm fitment before ordering.

Thanks in advance!

LIKELY because the WRX uses a different size spare tire.

Really?? Like the donut tire is a different size? I wouldn't think that the whole tire well would be different would it?

Jamie can you get a larger pic of the tool tray? The one on the site is tiny

My 03 wagon has one. I bought it late 05 used and it came with one already in there... I just figured all wrx's came with the "tool storage tray".

I have a small set of jumpers and some bike tools down there.

Jamie - I was already bugging you over PMs so I came to the forums to hopefully get an answer cause I didn't want to bother you too much

But since you came here....what kind of e-bribe would it take to get you (or anyone at Chaplins) to try the fitment on an 06, assuming you have one on the lot?

No e-bribe required?
yet again another example why you rock

I guess I'll wait before asking the wife to order...but if it fits, I'll be taking it off your hands with my b-day/subie bucks splurge

I always wondered this too... I think i read in the owner's manual that came with my 05 that a tray was standard, but I don't have one and can't find one.

Jamie, if you find this will fit the 05's I will order one from you ASAP!

Looks like the entire rear floor of the wagon is different....like it has a layer of foam under the carpet where the wrx just has the tire board. Also the wagon has a section of carpet that lifts up accessing the spare where the wrx has the carpet as one piece.

I bet that if someone made a little false floor and cut the carpet this could work great

Maybe this will be my spring project
