Default Holiday Get-Together in So. Fla.

We talked about this Friday night at Tower Shops and the general consensus was that we need to have a party/get-together for the holidays in So. Fla. So, how does this sound to everyone:

Date: Saturday 12/22/01
Time: Probably 11am or so to ???
Place: Markham park or similar

Markham offers "shelters" with picnic tables and grills that can be reserved. Right now they have one available for 12/22 that will accomodate about 24 people, but it's $60 for the day. They also have picnic areas with grills and tables that are first come/first serve. Admission to the park is $1 per person and the park has mt bike trails, tennis courts, basketball, volleyball, boat ramp, target range, and model airplane strip.

Another choice was Oleta River. They also have "shelters", their small one will accomodate up to 75 people and is $63.90 for the day. Same as Markham, they also have some areas that are first come/first serve. I think for Oleta River, admission is $4 per car and they offer mt bike trails, canoeing, and a beach.

If anyone has an idea/information about another park, let me know.

So, how does this sound to everyone? Please let me know ASAP, so if we want to reserve a "shelter", we can do it before they're all taken.

Default Doggies

This is what it said on the Broward County parks website:

Pets allowed in designated areas only. All pets must be kept under immediate control of the owner at all times and on leashes not exceeding six feet in length.

I tried calling to clarify what Markham's "designated areas" are, but got no answer. I'll keep trying.

We went to Markham this weekend, and saw some people with a doggie on a leash, so I'm guessing it's OK, but will let you know for sure.

Oh yeah...

You can bring bikes to both locations. They've got some suprisingly good trails.

As for bikes...I can provide transport for a couple. But Kevin...doesn't the super car have a folding rear seat?

Food...good idea. They've got grills on site at Markham, or someone could provide one if they'd like.

I second that nomination. He's the guy w/ the BMW...and he's gonna turbo it. Money bags Kevin to the rescue.

or Juan, hes got cars, a plane, a boat, and a phat house.

BMW guys are good for something afterall.

Default Organizing

For the food, whomever comes should bring what they want to eat. That way we don't have to worry about getting too much/too little or worry about all of us trying to agree on what food to get.

If Markham is OK for everyone, and we want to reserve the picnic "shelter", I'll take care of that, just let me know.

Ya, it folds down to reveal a huge amp and subwoofers... oh and let's not forget the rear strut tower bar.

You guys want Macaroni & Government Cheese? That's all I eat these days... after all, you do know how much that turbo kit costs. I have to reduce myself to Mac & Cheese plus selling blood to afford the damn thing.

I could always put my rack on the car and take another bike, let me know Kevin.

Here are the definite plans:

Kev is gonna rent out all of Markham park for the entire weekend. We could meet up at any time. He is also gonna bring 50 kegs of beer and rent 100 caterers...so bring your friends too. We are gonna fly R/C planes one day too, Kev said he'd buy us all one (btw, I want mine in blue_bi-wing_with white stripes). Then we are gonna go mountain biking...don't worry about bringing your bikes though, just make sure your gonna have room to bring one home...Kev's gonna get us those too. Kev also volunteered to pay off all the park rangers so that we could drift and drive fast around the parking lots all weekend. Limp Bizkit and Dave Mathew's band will be there as well (again...compliments of Kevin). All in all, we are gonna have one hell of a good weekend.

And if, for some reason, Kev can't come through, ANT has personally guaranteed to come through with ALL that was promised in his post. Way to go ANT! You, too, are one heck of a guy!
