well I believe I saw about 250 of them yesterday at the port, the orange really stands out among the thousands of wrapped up Audi's surrounding it, looks good but not $27k good

Since when does a European sport-tuned suspension(which means different dampers to me) = high performance?

well...mandating DSG will certainly drive the price up.

Really DSG is a non-starter for me as I doubt the ability of the average VW "tech" to be able to properly diagnose problems with it much less fix the damn thing when problems occur. And with the problems VW has had with reliability you would think they would be making systems simpler and MORE reliable.

Interesting name for a VW. Gabriel Fahrenheit set the Fahrenheit temperature scale to zero on a false assumption that he had found the coldest possible temperature for a ice/water/salt mixture. He also defined the human body temperature as 96F, which we also know to be inaccurate. While he made some quality thermometers, he didn't get the calibrations so hot. Perhaps it's a decent typification for VAG.

oh...but I have driven it and I actually very much liked it.

Its just a question of who I would buy the technology from and will they stand behind it.

As I am sure you are aware Honda\Acura is\was having huge issues with there auto tranny in the TL and Oddysey. And they have made a habit of fixing it well past the end of peoples warranties. I doubt VW would be so helpful.

18" wheels, a DSG, sunroof, and leather. Did you forget what a WRX limited costs???

Let alone the vastly superior interior.

Not saying I would buy a DSG, fwd GTi, but in the face of what the competition costs, thats a very fair deal.

I can only speak for my car, but the EDM version had vastly superior springs and dampers. The USDM suspension is pretty lame.

I actually have the Euro suspension sitting in my basement waiting to be installed...

i think that the WRX limited is overpriced but at least it's AWD, but even that doesn't justify it's price. seriously, $28K is not affordable. $20K is affordable.

I'd say the most recent is the MY07 Forester Sport, in WRB...

I agree 100% with you there. Gone are the days of a decently powered fun car for $20k. Sad to say...

The 20k pocket-rocket is quickly vanishing...

So is the $1.00 gallon of milk. 1997 is, like, so ten years ago...

Best bang FT buck under $25K is MS3, period. And in terms of content, engineering and performance, it's a waaaaay better car than anything that was a member of the $20K club.

And that Vee-dub is hella stupid @ $28K.

$15k is affordable.
$25k is average.
$35k is entry level luxury, IE hard to afford.
$45k-65k, hard to afford.
$100k very hard to afford.
$1 million+ = Veyron

when was the last time SOA offered anything new? the 06 wrx revamp was the last major thing SOA did and that was quite controversial...they've had same line up for years now...

Wow has it been that long wince 1997 Time flies...you don't ever realize the rising cost of the "little things", but the big things are glaring.

That V-dub is 26-27, not horrible considering its competition. The MS3 is surely the best buy, but a lot of people would pay the 2.5k more for the added luxury/tranny the VW gives you.

2.5k over the MS3 for what it gives isn't crazy. If it had 30 more HP, I think it would be a good buy considering the competition.

My regular 4 door GTI was $24,500. 6MT, plaid, 18" wheels, and aero bits.
