BEST WAY... take fishing line or dental floss and saw off the badges... put it between the badge and the trunk and go back and forth... fishing line works better... then use goo off or whatver it is called.. you may need to buff the area too

If you have an 06/07 the subaru center emblem will not come off as it is bolted on.

You guys don't use heat?

I've used a hairdryer and lots of patience, especially if it's cold (like winter).

A heat-gun could be too aggressive with its temp.....unless you're experienced with that. I use a heat gun and start at least a foot away and slowly heat the surfaces.

A good tip is: if the heat is too much where you can't hold your hand near the badge, then you are too close and risking damage to the surrounding areas.

trading trunks with another new age impreza would be the only way.

…..the only way to be rid of it is to swap trunks (as suggested by SB) or have the holes filled and the panel repainted.

As stated before (but no one seems to have read yet) the back of the emblem for the 06 has two posts on it. These posts are inserted into holes in the trunk and bolted in place. If you remove it, you are left with two holes. You either need to trade trunks, or get the holes welded, sanded, painted, etc. Or just leave the center badge alone.

I got quoted $200 to fully debadge my trunk because of Subaru's stupid idea to have the fat emblem bolted on in the 06 trunk.
Have to have the holes patched and my trunk repainted, now why couldn't they have just left it alone....

personally i am not a huge fan of the debadge.....but hey we all have our personal preferance.. I like people to see a cool car and know what car they are looking at. :P

Although I do really like the shotgun idea... maybe bird shot wouldn't be the way.. How about a nice big 12guage slug?

The problem that I am having is that after I have removed all the goo and stuff, there are still like scuffs around where the letters used to be, so it looks scuffed and then clean in the shape of the old letters so you can still see their outline. Any way to get rid of this or sort of blend it?

I used bug and tar remover and it got all of that stuff off pretty well. Debadged by 2002 RS and 2005 STI the same way (hair dryer and fishing line) then used bug and tar removed to get rid of the rest of the residue, and it worked very well.

i just buffed it out with a good microfiber cloth and bug/tar/goo gone stuff and it blended in very well. just depends on the condition of your paint because the paint behind the emblem has been protected from sun, dirt, rain etc until now.

thats just wrong...i took mine off the other day, no indentation.

have you thought about leaving just the logo emblem? maybe repainting it like i did..? it would save you having to deal with the holes...check out some of the pics in this thread...http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...7#post23211497

I just did mine

Materials
Fishing Wire
Hairdryed
3m Adhesive remover
A few Rags
Wax

Heat up the emblems first then use the fishing wire to pry them off. Once you get all the emblems off there will be some residue use the 3m remover with a rag to wipe off (heat up first as well) Once you get all the residue off I washed my car and especially the trunk. After Washing I waxed. You can still see the outlines of the SUBARU logo but after time and a few wishes it will fade away. Hope this helps

THANK YOU for not talking out of your arse. I'm sorry, but if you posted on this thread about it being bolted or there being an indentation (not sure about the 08, but i imagine it's identical), you've obviously not done this simple mod and should not recommend anything. Seriously, bolts?! Did you even take it off? I hope i never get a recommendation from you guys on a mod.

Btw - heat gun works well, but a hair dryer is just as easy and probably safer on the paint. Use some goo gone to get the rest of the glue off the car.

you are welcome...lol. i try to only comment on DIYs that i've actually done myself...isnt that the idea..? but yeah, hair dryer is probably best...just takes effing forever...i was planning on putting my badge back on after painting it anyway, so i got impatient and just ripped it off...
