Unique exterior features include the new tail lamps that wrap around the sides of the rear fenders as well as the tail gate. The Variant will initially be launched with two gasoline and two diesel engines, which includes a 1.4L 140hp (103kW) “Twincharger” TFSI model. The diesel engines produce 105hp (77kW) and 140hp (103kW), with mileage rates of just 5.2L/km and 5.6L/km respectively.

The car will be unveiled for the first time at next month’s Geneva Motor Show, with sales scheduled to start by mid this year.

The Jetta is much much larger than the Rabbit.

690L = 24 cu.ft The Rabbit hatch only has 15 cu.ft (same as the Jetta trunk).

9 cu.ft is a lot of useful room.

If you put the Golf next to a Jetta Wagon, you'd see how much larger the wagon is.

Funny, that the euros get a stretched Golf with Golf styling, and we get a boxed Jetta with Jetta styling. They just go with what's more popular.

Holy ****, lowering, OEM aero kit, and optional wheels go a LONG way on this car. A GLI wagon would have me cussing up a storm. That car is HOT!

I just noticed it was on a flatbed.

I like the GLIs a lot. My wife and I took one for a spin, in 2002. Great seats, too!!!

I'd rock one as a family car with the 2.0 TDI and a chip.

Maybe the TDI version, but w/ the 18" wheels and aero kit, it is a far nicer looking car. Then again, lets look at Subarus before they add their little touches.

Wow, sooo hot!

Incredible!

****ing jawdropping!

Subaru's style lives and dies by the little extra things like nicer looking wheels, sideskirts, slight changes to the bumpers and grills. VWs style is very much the same on the Rabbit and Jetta.

Are you really that hurt over the poor reception for the new Impreza?

no... because everyone who sees it in person loves it. The difference in Subaru's and VW's is that VW always had really stylish vehicles and nice interiors... They seem to be losing both. The last Jetta was really nice. This Jetta is a turd. No reason for you to get butt hurt about me calling this vehicle ugly and bland... I think the Passat is nice looking. I'll give any and every car its due.

rear overhang is ok. Actually it's probably look a little wierd if they didn't.

besides, they are working with a set platform. wheelbase can only move so much.

It's odd that at a time when other manufacturers seem to be rolling out midsize wagons like this one, Subaru cuts back by ending their Legacy wagon (not including the Outback). Especially since Subaru has been in the midsize wagon market for so long.
