Jaguar will be unveiling a freshened XJ at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show next week, which it hopes will help the large luxury sedan stay relevant until its replacement reportedly arrives in 2010. The changes are few and include a revised front end with a wonky new air inlet below the grille and new fog lamps in a revised front bumper. The big cat also gets XJ-style vents aft of the front wheels and a subtle wing on the rear deck. Three new colors and three new wheel designs will also be available. Inside the 2008 XJ are new seats that Jaguar claims are more comfortable and take up less space, which increases leg room for rear passengers.

The aluminum chassis remains, of course, as does the same engine lineup as the current model. AutoWeek, however, reports that the XJ will share its future engine lineup with the upcoming XF sedan. We've learned already that the XF will feature an intriguing engine lineup that includes a base 4.2L V8, a supercharged 4.2L V8 producing 420 hp and a supercharged 5.0L V8 producing around 500 hp in the range-topping R-badged models. So we can expect all three engines for the fully redesigned 2010 XJ, as well.

Really alot better looking than the previous design, as far as the front goes. Not much change to the rear. I just got done parking a 2004 for a guy this morning.

I surprised I don't see more XJ's on the road vs. S-class and 7-series. The light Al construction alone would sell me one, and the look is classic and refined. The new front looks good; aggressive in a subtle way.

I just don't get Jaguars. I personally don't find their look attractive at all, but I know that is just one opinion.

It obviously isn't marketed to me, it looks like an old fogey car to me that is trying to appear 'new'.

I've known two folks who have owned Jags and they both sold them because they were broken all the time (these were older ones, and YES that is not a scientific study).

It's enough to make me not consider the brand at all, I just don't 'get' it. A 30 year old male.

I would be much happier in a Legacy Spec.B (*Wagon!*) . Luxury, performance, understated but attractive styling, functionality (*Wagon!*) and I wouldn't look like some middle aged prick with a little man syndrome. (That description fits the people I did know who owned them too)

Someone clue me in? Is it Jaguar's heritage that people care about? What is it that makes a Jaguar, a Jaguar?

omg that front bumper is NASTYYY. Hopefully the regular XJ8 will look better. Looks like Jag tried too hard to make the XJR look sporty.
Also the new Jaguar badge FTL!

not a lot of Jags on the road because they are too old looking for rich people looking to show off. The people who buy them are either Jag fans, like the styling or like the price...

Looks like the kept it exactly the same, except decided to throw some BMW M bumper treatment into the mix.

Why on Earth have they decided to put gills on either side?

It's like serving a chocolate mousse cake with a chilli on the side
