05 tranny/07 tranny=PPG. Tranny experts

My question is will a 05 tranny fit in a 07 wrx. Because If I get an 07 wrx and Hopefully find an 05 wrx at a junk yard. Send the 05 tranny to PPG and have them build a 1-2 straight cut 3-4 helicle cut gearset/ or 1-4 helicle, get it back and swap it out. Because I know PPG has to modify the tranny case. Basically so the car dosent have very much down time

. Could this be done.

I think there might be an issue with the clutch fork, just call andrewtech, they might be able to get a core for you...

Call Andrewtech, the tranny will fit, but you run into the whole push/pull clutch issue and I'm ignorant on that. There is no case modifying with any 5MT PPG set though.

05-07 WRX tranz are same same type clutch engagement

02 RS and older is push
02 WRX and newer is pull . . . .opps

Im unsure if they changed the 03 and up RS to push yet . . . I dout it

not correct

non-turbo models such as the RS's...legacys...imprezas..use a push type clutch,

turbo models use the pull type that you are refering to... i.e. 02-newer wrx's, legacy gt, sti

the jdm wrx trans is the same engagement as a newer wrx in the US (pull type)

now the problem when ur swappin an 05 trans in for an 07 is the f/d is 3.7 vs the older wrx's and sti's that are 3.9 so you will have to spend the extra $600 to swap ring and pinion gears in the front diff, to match the rear diff in ur 07

So it would be better to find a 06 at a junk yard (if even possible) to do my little plan. I just dont want my car sitting there for 3-4 weeks while having to pay for a rental.

Another thing how would I ship my tranny. I would take it to a tuner near me who is familiar with wrx and have it shipped from there, but again how would I ship it, somehow crate it up and go ups (I wouldn't want it to get mangled or nothing.

call andrewtech 240-683-1000. i know he has a few complete transmissions he is trying to sell. instead of finding a tranny at a junkyard and paying to ship it to them have them just send you one. that way you only have to pay shipping one way.

I thought there was a whole lot more to this then just the FD as new clutches had to be designed for the 06's.
