Default What do you think of this?

First off Im new to the forums, so Hi.

Second is I love Subarus, and I am ichin to get an STi. I can get one now, its just that Im going traveling for a few months and wont be back till about middle of May. However I do want to take my car on the track, and take it out many a time. So I was crusin the internet looking at various STi s and I came accross this.

Edit, well this is super anoying. I can't post links.... um well I guess I'll walk you threw how to get to the pictures of the car.(I would rather not be banned on my 4th post)

goto google
, then type richmond subaru, then goto vehical listings, then goto year 2006-2006,the first entry is a WRB STI 2006. Its the Frist blue car on the page, and it has 8,728 km on it.
It has alot of mods on it already, noteably a front mounted intercooler, carbon spoiler, and 4 point harness for the driver, and a new black racing seat.(It doesn't match the rest of the car but I'm ok with that)

This is at Richmond Subaru, but I did some searches and some people on here don't like them, and or have had bad experiances with them. So my first question is, are they generally pretty good, or are the 1-5% of people that are mad just louder then the rest? That happens, I just really like this car.

2nd : Anyone know anything about this car? I will be taking it on the track, and might get it before I go, however I felt it was prudent to ask you guys about it. I've been reading the forums for about 2 months or so and this is my first real post.

Should I get this car? Or just get a STi? It seem like this is a pretty good deal, and other people hav already spent alot of money to upgrade it.

If I don't get this car, should I goto Docksteader?

Thanks!

Richmond Subaru is known for being queers in service, parts, and sales. But in terms of a used car, be weary and cover yer butt by doing this:

Get it inspected by a third party.
Do a compression test.
Do a leak down test (if you want).
Do a ICBC accident report.
If you want, doa Carfax report (in the US).
Do a ICBC lien search.

All that should cost a pretty penny...but less than $500 which is....less than 2% of your purchase.

Thats an excellent Idea. What if they have done thier own service and check? Should I hire a Mechanic or someone to come with me to the dealer, because they won't even allow test drives, Im not sure they would allow it to be takin to a 3rd party shop.

accedent report... What do I need for that? VIN?

BCAA can go to the dealership and do an inspection for $130 I believe? 110 point inspection. I've seen them do some work and they are o-k. Notbad. If I had it my way, I'd bring it to a Subaru speicalist, like PatR@Rocket Rally in Squamish...but thats quite the tow.

You'd need a VIN#

I work for a dealership. BCAA is not the best way to go, they aren't certified specifically on Subarus (or anything). Take it to Docksteader's for an inspection. If Richmond has a problem with that, they're hiding something. You don't get the VIN and take the hassle on yourself, just DEMAND to see the ICBC report. Buying from a dealer, you are protected against liens.

Lastly, why the hell would you even consider buying a car like that? It's been modded, so it's (99% sure) been driven hard, and you have no idea who the last owner was. When buying a modded car, you gotta see WHO used to drive the car (i.e. Private sale).

I think that thing was partially built by Rocket Rally, but don't quote me on that.

Here's the deal, they wants waaaay too much for that car, 65K for a modified STI. There's probably a reason it's still sitting on the lot for that long. If you're looking at spending that kind of money, why not buy a brand new STI and go from there? You know the history of the car and it's yours to begin with.

If that is the same heavily modded WRB STi at Richmond, then it has been there for sale for a LONG time now.

And, I am one of those loud people against Richmond Subaru...so I will tell you to go to Docksteader, or Specialty and buy a new/near new STOCK STi from them.

Richmond Subaru really IS that bad.

This is exactly what I as worried about. You get what you pay for. It was last listed for 54k which isn't much more then an STi, which was why I was interested. But getting an STI for 45k and putting 10k into mods that I know how its been done. Even just to have that peace of mind. Althought I probably not put 10k into mods, maybe 1-2k to start out.

Personally I would not buy it. 55k plus tax is around 60k for a car that has possibly been driven really hard. If you are interested in tracking, I don't see what great benefit that car has over a brand new sti. It has coilovers, strut bars, a fmic, rims, grounding kit, short ram intake, 5x guages, a seat, racing harness (do you even get the stock seat?), a turbo timer and a kind of ricey looking spoiler. But that is my opinion, I know some people like it though.

If you are willing to spend 60k on that, persoanlly I would go to the states, pick up a new sti for like 43k and you'll be able to spend 17k in mods that you are really happy with.

Edit: 43k for the sti is after exchange, and all taxes and duties in.

Thanks for the help guys!

I'm not gonna get this car, I'll check out some other subie dealers and get a 2005-2006 STi. No point in paying the depreciated value on a brand new car
