Default 1996 1.8L Impreza Brighton Coupe -OH

Price update...post #39

It's a , 1996 1.8L Impreza Brighton Coupe, 5 speed, AWD.

Nothing special, really - but after putting alot of work into it, the motor is deciding to take a hike. It has bad cam seals, and possibly a bad wrist pin.

Currently has 194,000 miles, the 5 speed shifts good and the clutch is in good shape as well. It has Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50 tires on the stock steelies, with plenty of tread left. Borla header, Stromung hi-flow cat section + midpipe that's mated to a 2005 STi axle-back. (edit - something in the exhaust sonds bad, could be a leak, but not sure, have not had the chance to get under it.)

I also put in a factory tach.

The suspension is the life of this car- there is about 150 miles (one-hundred & fifty) on the newly replaced suspension: STi lowering springs, KYB AGX struts & top rubber mounts.

This car is in the perfect situation to be swapped with the wrx, sti or just an rs or stock suby motor of your choice. I'm looking to get $2000.

I will deliver the car anywhere in OH, if need be.

Thanks for looking!

-Brian

To be quite honest, the car is nothing special to look at, it's the ugly dark green with gray interior... no tan, which may or may not be a plus, based on the buyer's preference.

Keep asking questions, I will do my best to answer everything to the best of my knowledge.

-Brian

edit: I don't mean to "shoot down" the appearence or color of the car, but when I was in the market, the price was right and I couldn't be picky.

My original intent was to incorporate the AEROSIM carbon 22B widebody, with fresh 74F paint, full STi swap, interior, dash, powertrain/ drivetrain, etc.... but I figured 2 extra doors would be more practical for my circumstance.

Well, what is the condition of the exterior?? Rust??

Also, the engine will need to be replaced correct?? Or does it run fine??

IN my opinion, it could use some paint - it has rust - I bought it from a fellow in NY back in Aug. 2005. Engine will eventually need to be replaced. It runs and drives but I don't want to make any promises. Slight loss of power and lower mpg's, ticking noise ( piston and wrist pin slap- per my inspection and also backed up by my mechanic)

As for the pics, I am lookiing to get a new camera on Tuesday evening (the fiance dropped the previous one in the toilet...)
Pics should be available by Wednesday, I hope. I'll be sure to keep the thread updated.

Thanks,
Brian

That was to be expected! Actually it happened @ our buddy's New Yrs. eve party, it was in her back pocket and for lack of a better phrase, "squirted out"! So we should have a replacement tomorrow, even possible a digital video camera.

Pics should be up by Wednesday, then.

How bad is that rust on the fender? Is there still some metal under there or is it all pretty much rotted?

99RSTurbo - yes, as a matter of fact, I do. I will post those as well as the remaining pics of the car, tonight.

rabbitnutz- thanks for the bump. i really wanted to do the whole 22b/ sti conversion, but oppertunities and circumstances seem to be either for or against each other sometimes.

kainam00- I'm pretty sure it's the top layer, peeling for now. A piece of cake for an auto body tech.

CD player does not come with the car, just the factory unit. Sorry, but my brother donated it for temporary use from his '06.

I doubt this car is going to move as fast as I'd like! But for the basic platform, it's a deal. Plus the suspension is fantastic.
