Default Stage2-Should I sell the balance of my warranty back?

OK here's the deal. When I bought my car new I never envisioned I would get bit by the mod bug so I bought the 100,000 5 years SOA Added Care warranty for my car. Well after my Stage 2 WRX tranny went at 40,000 miles and I got a denial I started thinking.....is there really anything expensive enough on this car that could break that wouldn't be subject to denial due to modifications to maek worth keeping the warranty. Keep in mind that I have a garage with a lift and while I don't have teh great mechanic skills, I know plenty of people that do. So what do you guys think? Keep the balance of the warranty or sell it back?

So you know the tranny isn't warranted. I assume at Stage 2 you have all modified exhaust and probably EM, so that most likely says no engine work will be covered. If suspension is also modded, there isn't too much left!

How much will you get back by selling the warranty (which I didn't even know you could do)?

I'm selling my 6 year, 80000 mile extended warranty back to them tomorrow when I take my baby in for her 7500 mile service. I bought her last March, but I did the same thing you did, only now I'm the proud father of a little monster with a 20G, fmic, injectors, fuel pump, etc., etc., etc. !

The guys at my dealership love what I've done, but I just can't see how keeping it will be worthwhile to me at this point.

Heck, it's 1400.00 bucks I can put into modding ! I can see an all carbon fiber interior now ! I wonder how much a good set of pistons cost ?

Good Luck with whatever you decide. Just don't lose sight of the main thing - Have fun with it !

Might as well. Not much else you're warranty will cover anyways. Take that money and buy you're woman a nice dinner.

Yep usually.....yeah can anyone think of any expensive part that would be covered that isn't something voidable due to car being Stage 2 that would make me keep the warranty?

If you have a loan on your car the prorated amount left on the warranty will be applied to the balance of your loan. I would sell it back too.

It's not exactly selling it back. It gets pro rated by the unused portion. Depending on how it was paid for, you either get reimbursed or it gets taken off the loan.

Well, I guess you could call that selling it back....

Yeah its pro rated... I got back like $900 of $1400 the wife and I spent on her 2005 GT. It depends on miles and years.

so How do I go about doing that? Just take the car in and tell them I want to sell the warranty back?

What if they say they can't do that?

Thanks.

You might want to give the dealer's finance dept a call first to ask what paperwork you'll need to bring in. For more details, or if the dealership isn't helpful, try the 800 Subaru hotline number (800 Subaru3).

Like I said I was going to do, I cancelled mine today. All you need is your extended warranty and your mileage. Out of 1366.00, I got 1177.00 back after one year.

But my car is paid off, so if you have a loan, I'm sure it would be different. If it's in with your payment, then you haven't actually paid for it yet, have you ?
