Forester UOA - Castrol Syntec 0W30 (GC), 7k miles, FXT

UOA by Blackstone and oil was in use from April December 06. My daily trips are 5 miles each way and I drive on the beach in the spring, summer and fall. Engine is stock and I don't race. No oil was added during the interval.

Current fill is Motul Eco-nergy 8100 5W30 because I wanted to try a thinner oil (9.9 @ 100C) due to the short trips (and colder temps). I'll probably be getting a Dyson Analysis shortly.

1st column current; then Gold GC w/ 7,478, Gold GC w/ 6,144 miles, Green GC w/ 5,930 and M1 5W30 w/5,774.

Equipment make: Subaru Equipment model: 2.5L Turbo
Oil use interval: 7,000
Oil type & Grade: Castrol Syntec 0W30
Make-up oil added: 0
Miles on unit: 44,750
Air filter: OEM Oil filter: OEM

Fuel is an on again, off again find in your Subaru. Its off again in this sample. We assume it has something to do with the way you operate the engine racing or idling or doing a lot of city driving. In any case, a trace is not a problem. Wear still looks great and shows no changes that would indicate a problem developing. The viscosity again read higher than expected. Contaminents will cause the viscosity to increase (though a trace of fuel wont do it. Excessive heat, like from racing, could cause an increased vis. We doubt sodium is an issue. Check back.
