Unhappy Problem starting my Baja

Maybe somebody has some advice for me. A few weeks ago I had a real problem starting up my Baja. I chalked it up to needing a new battery, I've had the car 4 years and have 120000 miles on it. I put the battery in and it started up fine. I went to leave work and it had the same problem which was cranking but not turning over. After a few times turning the key it would start but it sounded like it was missing. After a few more times it would run normal. (Oh yeah let me add I live in the Philly suburbs so it was bitter cold) So I took it to the dealer where they gave it a past due tune up. Then I picked it up with no problems... next day same thing. Took it back up to the dealer. This time they cleaned the IAC valve which was carboned severly, got new ignition wire and coil assembly. Picked the car up drove home and the next morning same thing. I took it back to the dealer and left it over night so they could start it in the morning. It worked great for them. So over the past couple weeks it has wrmed up and no problems. The other day it was 29 degrees when I left for work and there was a problem. Today it was 16 degrees and I had a real problem. Now once it gets going it runs like a champ and will start the rest of the day with no worries. So if I could get thoughts on what this is it would be a help.

Did you put in a battery with a higher CCA rating than stock?

My wife's '99 OB starts more easily than my '04 FXT with this cold. I'm still on the original battery and she has a stronger than stock battery with 105,000 miles on the car. Her car also has conventional 5W30 oil with an added quart of 10W40. My car is running synthetic Motul 5W30.

Check the plug wires... seriously, unless they have been replaced... I had one fail right at the coil pack, blew the terminal right off the wire... it would still run but you could HEAR it arching... and it ran something horrible...

A wire could be lose on a plug also, push on the wires at the plug and see if any of them "snap" into place..

Get some dielectric greese before you start and smear some in the wire ends as you check them (good insurance)

none of that applies to the OP's car. No plug wires, the coilpacks sit directly on top of the plugs. (There is no clicking either like a normal plug, they just bolt on and you really don't have much choice in how they sit on the plug)
