Default What does a clutch slip sound/feel like?

I was driving to day & I herd a weird rattle sound on deceleration. So I was driving around doing different things to try to recreate it. I didnít come up with anything but it only seams to do it in the low RPM range. Well anyway, I was pulling into a parking lot so I downshifted from 3rd to 2nt & when I released the clutch Kaboom! Felt like I hit a pothole the car did not stall just the loud nose & an abrupt shimmer. Then the car drove fine; I could not recreate eater the rattle or the kaboom thing. Any Ideas, Clutch, tyranny (god I hope not)?
thank's;
Niloc

as far as the rattle goes i don't know but the downshift sounds like u dropped the clutch with slack in the drive train. Give it a little slip before u let it up to take out the slack and that won't happen.

As far as a slipping clutch. Well mine went last week and basically what would happen is in any gear i would start out in the low rpm range. Floor it. and it would seem to go fine until about 4k then the needle would jump to about 5.5k. That, the dealer told me, was a bad clutch due to a failed pressue plate.

To me what your saying dosn't sound like a slipping clutch.

Hope this helped but it is all from my limited experience so if im wrong someone please correct me.

Sometimes our AWD system will make a kaboom when activated. you might have not had the RPM's meshed very good and it shockloaded the car and one set of wheels started to lock and the center diff kicked in.

Slippage is easy to tell. It will usually start in 4th or 5th gear at WOT and your rpm's will raise fast but you will not gain much speed. no noises usually associated with it but you can smell your clutch

yeah if you spun the clutch the car woulda just started to coast....and on acceleration it'll normally justs over-rev and bounce off the limiter until you realize the disk is burning.

The rattling might possibly be your thow-out bearing.

This might sound dumb, but are you manifold heat-sheilds rattling...you'll hear it slight on acceleration, but you'll hear it a lot on deceleration. My legacy did it before I ripped it off, now my RS is...my 2 cents.

Hey all. I think my clutch is slipping. But I notice it when I shift gears under hard acceleration, especially into 2nd. I shift, let out on the clutch and floor it and the rpm's go up, but I don't go anywhere then it lurches forward. It almost feels like clutch isn't engaged even the clutch is in the up position.. Should I have my dealer look at it? I only have 4000 miles on my car.
