Default STI ver.7 struts on 06 wrx questions

I'm about to buy some ver. 7 STI struts. The problem is that they don't have the springs and the front tophats. From What I understand the front top hats are the same as my wrx. I've read problems (fixed with washer mod) about 04+ rear top hats on the v7 struts.

My questions are:
Can I use 02/03 aftermarket springs with the v7 struts I'm buying or are there v7 specific springs?

I can use my front tophats correct?

The seller told me that v7 doesn't have the problem with rear clunking like the v8. I wonder if this is true since the only difference seems to the the straight spring design to the mountain shape?

Should I go with v8 struts? What are the advantages other than miles and spring limited options?

if you put on spacers on the rear struts you can make this fit with your stock rear tophats
