FS '97 Legacy GT, 5 spd.
I am posting to gauge interest. I am prepared to leave this at the dealer, so the sale would need to be straight forward, prompt and painless (IE cash only drive away).
Located North Central Mass.
Bright Red '97 Legacy GT 2.5
5 Speed Manual
211,000 miles, mostly Highway (80 miles/ day)
Clutch slipping at low (lugging) rpm in 5th. Likely due to wear, may be rear mainseal.
Body in good condition, small dings typical parking lot rash.
Interior rough to fair.
Due for timing belt/ water pump (no related problems)
Comes on 2 season old Magna Grip winter tires mounted to 15" 6 spoke Subaru Alloys. Tires smooth and quiet on highway. (edited)
Small rust spot over drivers side rear wheel.
This car still drives real nice, with good power, tracks straight, nice highway manners. I would figure that somebody here might be intersted because of the low supply of manuals out there and this car deserves better.
I have been a lurker here for the last 4 years since buying this car and been impressed with the projects and info posted. This site has inspired me to look at putting some money into this car and doing the work myself, but I am over my head with other projects at the time. Also due to the age of my wife's car, I could be looking at replacing both vehicles in 2-3 years and have 2 cars with a combined +400k miles.
I would expect $500 - $1500 for trade at the dealer depending on my skills of negotiation, so most likely $500. I plan on visting dealers today and will know more about the trade in value after.
Feel free to chime in with suggestions or interest.

I am a big fan of second generation Legacys.
As long as your cylinder head gaskets are good to go, this is an awesome car.
Unfortunately I don't have the space for the car or I would be all over this deal.
Someone be a good soldier and snap up this car... don't let a stealer get its sticky hands all over it. This car deserves a second chance.

I am glad there is some interest. After cleaning the salt off it is still fairly photogenic. Here is a page with some pics.
Some more details.
-It looks like it is leaking oil at the front & back of the block. I think this is pretty recent because there is no build up on my drive way. Not sure if it is causing the clutch to slip or not, clutch has at least 100k.
-It has a nothing-special 3-4 year old Aiwa CD player recently installed.
-Corrosion has gotten going under the paint of those wheels, they will need a sand blast and re-paint.
-Jan. Mass inspection.
-Per previous owner, the head gaskets were done before 100k and there currently is no oil in antifreeze & vice versa.
I am trying not to mis-represent this car to avoid surprises.
Obviously it would be sold as is.
I didn't make it to a dealer today, so unfortunately I am not sure what they will offer.
If you are interested then use the email on the link to send me an offer. I plan on moving quickly.
