Default WRX turbo vs WRX STi turbo

Does anyone know the difference between the turbo
in a US stock WRX and the European WRX STi's?

Any comment is welcome, and
I am particularly interested in the technical spec differences.

WRX has a smaller turbo, Mitsu TD04. STI has the IHI VF30, a larger turbo, but not huge by any means. Some of the older STI models used other turbos in the IHI catalog. Do a search on VF30 for some more information. It's out there, but it's not as detailed as you might hope. Alot of us have been looking for hard specs on the IHI VF series and really haven't come up with much more than peak HP ratings and whatnot.

I usually don't tell people to do a search unless the topic has been covered too many times to count, or they ask for specifics on subjects they obviously haven't researcha at all.

...this might help; the STi turbo has been mentioned in several threads, I can't remember the designation, but they are different than the WRX spec turbo. Not sure anyone know the specs, or what you are looking for, but there is info on it if you do a search.

here is one thread: http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthr...ight=sti+turbo

there you go,

Thanks.

The reason I asked is that there is a local dealer (Exeter Subaru)
has the STi turbo, and I am wondering if it is worth upgrading.
