Haha actually I really loved the look of the dipped headlights but ya I never tapped anything. And as long as you paint 5 coats it comes off really easy

His picture is way underexposed, I'm sure it looks better in real life or in a properly shot photo

Perhaps the "Sleeper effect" is the desired look . . .

Wow I didn't make any sense at all.
I bought a paint gun and 5gallons for $300

I painted my whole car using 4 gallons of flat black (I did 5 coats that way it's easier to peel off)

Then I messed it up on the final coat so I ripped it all off (it took less then 2 hours to rip every inch of it all off)

Im sure he peeled it off. As well as his windows. That picture must be right after the spray.

Right, it looks good, but you will not even be able to see light through it at all with 5 coats on it. I remember when I painted mine, I left it over my brights, you couldn't see ANYTHING haha.

He should have peeled out his wallet and had it professionally done.

Question for all you plasti-dippin' experts:

I just did my first project with PD and after 4 light to medium coats, with 25 min between each coat, the final finish isn't what I was expecting. I've got complete coverage, but the finish has that orange peel sort of texture to it. its not totally smooth like I was expecting. Is this normal? I've never seen anything PD'd in person.

Post a picture of your finish. And I know the first time I did it, the metal of the car was to hot so it looked like rhino liner and was really rough.
I just peeled it all off and redid it. Now it's 100% soft feeling without the bumps. I will do a close up of mine so u can see it.

If you get too far away while spraying you'll get the "orange peel" texture with your PD. I had that happen by following the distance the can recommended. I've had much better luck spraying ~4-6" away.

Try to spray closer and get medium to thick coats. Just keep trying and be sure to spray enough or else it will never come off.

I think the issue was I followed the directions!

Without removing the 4 coats I already did, I added one more thicker coat that was sprayed on from about 6" away. It looks better and more even for sure. Not sure if I'll re-do what I've done or not. I'm sure from more than 2' away it looks black.

It was my exhaust finishers that I dipped. Took them off the car to do it, so its not like a big hassle. I'll post a pic when its done. I suppose to orange peel texture does makes it look OEM though.

Dip your car. Com or just go to Home Depot and buy the rattle can spray paint of it.
It's in the spray paint isle just so you know.
