I haven't yet, but I'm about to. I know others have done it and had good success with it. It's a hell of a lot cheaper than the 3M clear bra stuff.

The only differences that I can tell is the clear dip will leave more of a "satin" finish as opposed to a shiner one. I think it's sexy though.

I just put on plasti dip blaze yellow on my wheels. it seemed like a totally different texture. I wonder how well it will hold up and how hard it will be to keep clean?

I've actually just recently used the pre-dip spray for the first time about a week ago. Normally, I just used alcohol to wipe stuff down.

I'll have to say that I was pretty skeptical of the pre-dip spray, but it really did seem to do a good job getting some really caked on brake dust off of wheels. I sprayed it on fairly generously and let it sit for a couple of minutes and the dust really started to dissolve and break up.

Then I wiped it off with a towel. I think that if I would have had a toothbrush, the process would have been even faster.

It doesn't seem like snake oil upon first impression. I remember how long my first set of wheels took to clean with alcohol and these wheels were way worse, but I was done way faster.

I'll be dipping a whole car using it coming up soon. We'll see how it does there.

What kind of texture were you getting? Were you using a rattle can or the pre-thinned dip?

Also, how close were you and how cold was the dip?

Yeah. It could only be a satin finish for sure but that wouldnt bother me at all. WAY cheaper than 3M and possibly just as good depending on how many coats you put on. Ordering today since home depot doesnt carry the clear.

Plasti-dipped my wheels last night. I put about 5 or 6 coats on them and it covered up everything beautifully.

Started with gold.

After a few coats.

Tireshine was the key to getting them to peel off the tire so well.

Best picture i could do at 12:30a.m.

They really set my car off with how vibrant the white was, i just hope it cleans off easily. Best $25 spent so far

Plastidipped my cheap winter wheels. It's holding up really well, especially considering the halfassed job I did. Covers up my wife's tendy to curb rash them, as well.

Anyone tried any of the generic/other brands? The closest place to me that carries plastidip is like 20 minutes, but the local hardware store has another kind.

I'll try to remember a picture when I'm over there. I'm assuming it is like plastidip, and not like a truck bed coating or something...

I love how the armor all stuff is just re branded plasti dip for 3 times the cost. Look at the number designators on the bottom of both cans, they are exactly the same.

Can someone explain what I did wrong?

I started with one coat, it started to look nice and smooth

I let it dry for 30-40 minutes and decided to give it another coat, and it came out like this

it's not smooth now, and feels like the dash, uneven...

1. what did I do wrong?
2. how can I fix this now?

Was that only two coats? You could try spraying some more light coats (2 or 3 more) and let the dip re-cure itself. You could also peel it off and try again with 3-4 coats. I use a heat gun to let it dry in between coats so its a lot faster to dip. Maybe 5 about minutes cuz I'm impatient lol

Make sure the tips are nice and clean, and make sure the cans are warm and shaken well (this makes a huuuuge difference).

The good thing about PlastiDip is that it reliquifies when you add more on top. So you can just keep adding layer without a problem. Try the steps i suggested right over the top of your old layers.
