if you pull the led casing u have a much brighter and about the size of a pen tip led its very discrete but very bright... i also had that viper alarm. nice escort radar detector... 8500? i have that with the zr3 shifter... i love that

Thanks for the tip on the LED. I also have the ZR3 shifters integrated with the 8500. But now that the 9500i is out... might have to upgrade... droolz...

The black button is the mute for my Passport 8500 radar detector. I hard-wired it all together for a cleaner look. The button will also temporarily disable my ZR3 laser shifters. Basically when I'm hit with laser, I brake down to the speed limit and then hit the button so that the police can get a legitimate reading of me doing the speed limit...

The CF cup holder is identical material wise except for the face. So strength-wise, I'd say that they are the same.

I have the 2 way Responder with the LCD remote styles... I got it about 2 years ago so Viper may have something smaller now.

Yeah, the antennae on mine are really short, less noticeable. I have the 2-way as well, got their newest 1-mile systems, I love it.
