Default My05 during rebuild

Well, almost to paint time. Battery is in the trunk and I plan on running an 06/07 windshield wash tank in the fender. Cruise control, and A/C delete when the motor is in. Entire build is DIY.

Progression:

^ JB Weld is the new Bondo

^Smoothed and Primed for paint

^Painting engine bay Subaru 48W (CGM) With this red flake in the clear coat.

it is a type of cold weld. it's pretty cool. I use it all the time. It has a decent range of temperature as well. I was really planning on using to shave my bay as well but I'm on a time crunch on my build so I'll play with it another time.

Got ahold of clint today. what a nice dude. anyways, just a quick questions for anyone already having messed with an STi harness.. Do you know in the main harness how many wires come out into the engine bay?

I took a quick look and it looked like there were 2 sets of harnesses, one on left, one on right. but the right side looked bigger.. anyways, how many wires in each bunch?

Default Engine bay clean up

Slowly cleaning up the dreaded boxer engine bay.

I started with the A/C, the washer fluid reservoir, and over the weekend took out my powersteering pump + looped the lines.

Next up is a battery relocation and a catchcan (to move those dirty PVC lines )

And since I know you all like JDMs :P

Lets see what -YOU- have done to your engine bay, and ideas to help clean mine up!

Cool

Saw your thread last night. I'm gonna have a look see when I get home from work today and see what I can do. I've always lived the shaved bay look, but won't be going that far on my Subie. But I did already chop a couple coolant lines that run over my airbox to the turbo coolant reservoir. I mostly just look at shorting/re routing vac lines and what not. I ll check back in on this thread later tonight with my findings

So, this really isn't shaved, and the minimal amount of wire tucking is a joke. But, it is custom.

Iceman967, how did you paint the bay with all the wiring coming through the firewall?

Anyone figure out some good mounting options for the OEM windshield washer reservoir tank relocated in the trunk?

Johann that's a long runner? Can you post a pic of all the stuff you shaved? Or even just tell me what vacuum fittings you left? What did you use to grind it and what kind of sheet metal/gauge is that you used for the panels? I'm about to start mine! Thanks and always beautiful work

16g sheet metal on the sides.

Vacuum I have:

Brake booster
Hydra boost feed
Bov
Fuel reg
Boost controller is off turbo to wastegate

The mani is a longer runner that's a ver 7 jdm swap. I cut the bulk of the tabs off with a reciprocating saw and then smoothed it out with a grinder with a 36 grit sanding disc. The mani is getting a wrinkle red powder so if your going for a smooth powder you'll need to set to a 180 minimum after you finish the shaping.
