Question H3 Foglight Bulb Recommendations

I'm looking into some yellow H3 replacement bulbs for my bugeye since I blew one out tonight playing in the snow. I already have the rockblocker yellow film on them. I'm not sure if I should purchase yellow bulbs or white bulbs as replacements.

I prefer to be able to have functional fogs for use in bad weather. I was looking at rallylights.com and was considering these:HL78135YReplacement H3 Bulb, 12V, 55W, Yellow Star, each

Now some questions:

Would it make a difference if I purchase the 85 or 100w version?

With the yellow rockblocker film would it be too yellow?

I have HIDs already so I want some fogs that would mate up well with the hid lighting.

I guess I'm just looking for some recommendations.

Thanks

I love my PIAA crystal ions for their blue hued rich yellow light. But they arent exactly a value leader as far as price goes.

Best to stay with stock (55W) bulbs to avoid potential harness/connector problems as well as reflector discoloration from overheating. If you really want to run higher wattage bulbs then you should upgrade the wiring although the reflectors may still discolor over time- especially if you drive around with the fogs on all the time (not really a good idea anyway).
If you have yellow film, yellow bulbs shouldn't be used as it will reduce the light output. Use either film with clear bulbs or clear lenses with yellow bulbs.
The Yellow Stars are decent bulbs, Narva Golds are also nice. I have the Narvas in my fogs but I have not used them very much, I rarely turn on my fogs.

I've used the h3 55w narva golds and now I'm running the philips all weather coated yellow bulbs.

the narva golds were richer, more goldish in color vs the philips. But honestly both look and perform very similiarly

Ok, I guess I'll stick with the 55w and clear bulbs. I already have the yellow rockblocker on the lenses.

What would you recommend for a 'bright' clear bulb for fogs?

There's so many choices here I don't know which one.

If you really want to use the fogs when it's foggy (although that doesn't happen much in NY), just get standard clear non-xenon bulbs. With the yellow film you already have, a "superwhite" bulb isn't going to do much and for poor weather visibility yellow light is better.

I use the Hella Yellowstar 55w bulbs from rallylights.com. They do a good job at cutting through fog, rain, and snow (drove thru the snowstorm this weekend with them). I've actually got 4 running - two in the stockers, two in aux fogs. Tough to beat the price of $6 a bulb too.
