Default Leaving Prosport gauges unplugged

So I want to put in my new headunit and sub this weekend, and to save the hassle of having to tear into the dash again, I was thinking of installing my Prosport gauges in the DIN gauge pack along with the headunit...

My question is, is it ok for me to leave the gauges hooked to ground and illum while not hooked to +12v? It's too cold right now to put in the egt, oil temp, oil press senders under the hood so I was planning to do that in a couple of months, while leaving the gauges installed in the dash.

I don't see why you can't hook up the positive and the ground, just don't hook up the senders. You'll get illumination on the gauge but no readings.
I've done similar on my rover without any adverse affects.
