If you are not interested in the car do not post

So.. I'm gonna try my luck at selling my car

It's a Black 99 RS coupe.. with ~92K miles.

I'm asking 5900 because that's what I owe. KBB says 5800 for Fair conditon and that is what I think my car is in.

She need a new motor or a rebuild. The car is still very drivable, but she has a CEL, so it will be a bit of a hassle getting a sticker.

The only up keep need on the car is about 2 quarts of oil everyweek.. or more often depending on how much driving will be done. And the occaisonal sparkplug change every two-three weeks.

Other then the motor the car is in pretty good shape. There are a few noticable dents on the passenger side of the car.. but nothing that can't easily be taken out.

The only mods that the car has are: 03 WRX seats, Kartboy Shortshifter, and some generic intake. I do plan on putting a stock intake on the car before she goes. Everything else in the car is stock. It also has 05 WRX wheels.

I also just put a new timing belt on and replaced all the idler pullys and the tension only has about 3k miles on it.

This car is prefect for a motor swap or for someone who wants to learn more about Subaru motors.

I really hate to have to sell the car.. but I really need something newer.

A car that is burning 2qts of oil a week is not considered "fair condition"...im sure this will be pointed out quite often in this thread.

sorry.

Break given!

We just got through a BIG thread in MAIC about people asking outrageous prices for their RS's... like, burns oil, needs brakes and wheels, paint peeling, 140k miles... $11,000!

This isn't the worst deal in the world. Someone looking to do a swap would pay the same price for one with a working motor in about the same condition, then rip that motor out and leave it on the ground somewhere.

So you want someone to pay an extra $100 over what the car is worth just because you owe an extra $100? How does that make 1 iota of sense?

Do you know what's wrong with the engine? I don't know a whole lot, but my guess would be bad seals?

If you _need_ to sell the car, though... be prepared to take quite the hit with problems like this.

Been there... done that.

you guys are so funny cause if you were selling this i know you would be asking the same price so back off and let her try and sell her car.i've seen it and it's a very nice RS besides the motor issue which is easily fix.the 92,000 on the rest of the car should help sell it for that price.
good luck with the sale

It makes a lot of sense.. PLEASE DON'T POST IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN THE CAR. READ THE FOR SALE RULES! WHY COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PRICE IF YOU ARE NOT INTERESTED IN BUYING?

I do know what is wrong with the car.. bad rings in cly.#1. The problem isn't really that bad.. it's just fixing it.

It has a missfire at idle.. that's because of the bad rings. And the bad rings lead to burning oil. It's en endless cycle.

I've been trying for a while now to find a shortblock or longblock, but I'm having no luck. I would love to fix the car and drive her to the ground, but I don't have the time and patience anymore.

I know that the car still has a long lfe ahead of her.

note to potential buyers: it doesnt quite burn 2 qt's a week (unless you drive a LOT)

hayley let me borrow her car for ~ 6 weeks when i blew the motor on my WRX. yes, you need to check the oil every other day or so, and typically need to add ~ 1/2 a quart or so. consumption (my best guess) is about a quart every 200-250miles. not great, but manageable. a 5qt jug of oil lasted me ~ 5 weeks, and i drive far more than she does.

other than a low-rpm misfire (rings in cyl 1 are bad so the plug gets oil fouled rather quickly), the car drives perfectly fine. doesnt feel down on power, or stumbles any other time.

plus now it's got all new idlers and a new t-belt tensioner....so if you chose to rebuild it, theres ~ $250 in parts you dont need to buy.

to anyone else: if you're not interested in buying the car, dont post. i dont appreciate anyone giving her a hard time for trying to not take a hit on the car.
