Default Help me decide on which vacation to go on with the gf

The girlfriend and I are trying to plan a trip to Florida the week of April 15-22nd. We're trying to keep the cost down which is why we chose Florida. We're thinking Daytona, Orlando, Tampa, Miami. We're both 23 years old. I've been to Orlando and Tampa when I was younger but so far the price range for all 4 of those is $400-$600 including airfare. We might just stay 5 days instead of a full 7, depending on our schedules.

Anyway, I'd like some input as to which place would be best bang for the buck... and I don't mean underage asian schoolgirl massage bang for the buck lol The gf has never been to Disneyworld so that's why we would consider Orlando.

Of course, if OT helps us plan this, I will be more than happy to post pics of the girlfriend in her bikini at the beach lol Feel free to check the "Post pics of your girlfriend" thread for reference.

************EDIT EDIT EDIT EDIT**********************

UPDATE!!!:

We will now most likely be going on a cruise. We're not sure if it will be from NY or if we will fly to Florida and sail from there. The Carribean seems inexpensive right now. I've been on a cruise before and it was one of the best things I've ever done. So much fun. Anyone reccomend and cruise lines, web sites, or certain locations that aren't too expensive?

What? No Pohl?

Without a "Which ever one leads to the most IDP" option, this thread will go no where.

There we go, added a poll. I'd like some feedback as to why you enjoyed it though. The girlfriend isn't a big drinker so a really big spring break scene may not be enjoyable for her. We're both looking for someplace warm, with a beach and with things to do/see. Oh yea, and IDP!!!!!!

Don't forget Ft. Lauderdale. It's real close to Miami and quite nice. Otherwise, I'd say Daytona as it's close to St. Augustine/Jacksonville. Think two-fers as if you don't like Daytona, you can cruise up to Jax/St. Aug, likewise if Miami sucks, you can go to Ft. Lauderdale.

Ha! I'll be in my hometown Jax visiting my family that week, and will hopefully sneak a side trip down to St. Aug/Daytona for a day. Definitely do a day or two in Orlando for the theme park thing, Tampa also has Busch Gardens. I'd also recommend a day trip to the Keys or the Everglades.

DisneyWorld may be nice, but its not good on the bang for the buck side.

The parks require mucho dinero

No matter which one you choose, you will get plenty of banging for your buck
In all seriousness.. Miami is fun. I was down there for spring training a couple years ago. We had a good time.

I live in between St Augustine and Daytona

Daytona at night is not a a fun place as soon as you leave A1A (main strip). Plus theres really not that much to do, A couple of lame clubs lots of bars you can go anywhere for that..

St Augustine is BEAUTIFUL! Lots of sights to see, Lots of history, But its very small you could walk around in a day maybe 2 and see it all.

So my suggestion would be Orlando, TONS to do excluding Disney world.. Countless good clubs really good bars for some night activities. Plus all the other them parks around Sea world, Universal, blah blah blah you get the point..

Definately not Miami if you're trying to save cash. I had a lacrosse tournament in Miami and the gf at the time came with me. Omg I blew threw cash. Like $11 a beer blowing threw cash.

Yea F that noise... I think Miami is out of the question as of right now. Perhaps substitue it for Ft. Lauderdale instead.

Tampa's very nice. Plenty to do and see, and if you want to party Ybor City has a bunch of bars and clubs. I don't find it very expensive, either.

Disney is like Vegas for families -- a great place to go with lots to do, good service, and good value for the money, but they are very efficient at taking your money. Don't get me wrong, I am going to take my kids there when they are old enough, but I don't plan on getting out of there without $4-5K missing from my wallet by the time I'm done with park admissions, plane fare, rental car, food and booze. If I just went there with the wife for a week I'd probably end up dropping something like $2-3K, easy. But it really is a fantastic place, they know how to make sure you are treated right. It's just decidedly not cheap.

I'd add New Orleans to your list .... it's a great, historic town, the parts people like to see are fine, the restaurants are up and running, and they need the money .

Have you considered hitting up somewhere in the Carribean? We went to St Thomas for pretty short money from Boston a few years ago, we rented a condo for a week, hit the grocery store for breakfast/lunch fixins, and only did dinners out. We could take ferry rides to St John, the beaches were awesome and the water was crystal clear. We also took a day trip to the Norman Baths in the British Virgin Isles (need a passport, but well worth it). I can't wait to take a trip to the Carribean again.

I actually just got back from Disney World with my gf. I'm 23 and she had never been either.

That would be my choice.

Tampa is a dump and Daytona is the beach plus a few decent clubs.

Also, Orlando is right in the middle of Tampa and Daytona. It's like an hour drive to each on I-4 (not sure if you are renting a car or not) and when I go down (timeshare) I usually drive to Daytona to go out one night.

Disney World is a lot of fun as long as you don't have the wannabetoughguy mentality that you are too cool for Mickey Mouse

My gf loved it and we had a lot of fun together.

PM me if you want and I can give you some places to get good deals on parking and tickets to Disney.

If you go to Orlando, you are going to spend some bucks at the parks. Even with discounts, you are probably looking at $50/person at any of the parks, plus a minimum of $10/meal for two of you.

And there isn't much else to do in Orlando *other* than the parks.

Daytona is good, especially if you are looking for a little bit of night life without the expense of the Miami night life. The beaches are decent, and you can drive your car right onto the sand and show off your AWD. It's close enough to St. Augustine that you can spend a day there taking in some of the old forts and the old jail for some sightseeing. And if you get burned to a crisp on the beach the first day, you can spend a day at the dog track in Daytona.

Panama City is nice, but it's little more than a sleepy beach city with touristy type establishments.

You might also want to consider Destin if you are looking for a week of quiet beach time.

In the end, I'd vote for Orlando if you want to hit the parks, and Daytona for the variety of entertainment options.
