Thumbs down just got pulled over in lynnhood!!!

ahh!! I was driving through a neighborhood near 36th the other day and i noticed a car parked behind some bushes in someones driveway. sure enough it was a cop! he got me going 39 in a 25 and he didn't even give me a chance to talk he jus said he was going to give me an infraction and he didn't bother checking my insurance... My question iss... Is he allowed to pull people over even though he is parked on somebodys driveway? That isn't considered public property! or does it even matter? Anyways... thats all...

Many home owners allow cops to hide in driveways, i know growing up in LFP all around they would and i know most of the time they asked first. One time they didn't my friends mom gave them hell (officer grose or groose, or something like that)

I'm thinking about asking the police to sit in my living room and radio other officers to cite people who fail to stop at the stop sign in front of my house. Or installing a stop-sign web cam.

How hard is it to keep it under 5mph over the limit? I mean come on, you were doing 156% of the speed limit here.

Well a deferal is still like a hundred bucks, and you never know if you'll get caught again not speeding like I always do, pay $200 and get it wiped clean.

Actually, if I remember correctly, my wife had to pay about $200 to get her ticket deffered, and then no tickets for 1 year, or else both tickets hit your record.

When I first was starting to drive I got a 42 in 25mph zone (and zipping up flame suit right about now). I got it deffered and it only cost a $100. That was the kent court district. Trust me though, pay the $200 and you dont have to worry about it everytime you drive for a year...

Don't you only get one deferral per lifetime? I am not sure I would use it on a speeding ticket.

^^^Yes. Just about the only thing you can use it on is a speeding ticket, though. School zones, construction zones, and stuff like DUI cannot be deffered.

You get 1 deferral every 7 years. If you're a tard street racer that may equate to a lifetime, should you DIAF, but for the rest of us it just means we have to be on our toes for a long time. Unless the laws have changed, you have to pay the fee and keep clean for a year. Do NOT hire a lawyer if you are going to defer the ticket, it's a TOTAL waste of time. At the beginning of the court session the judge should explain the deferral process and ask if anyone wants to do it. Sometimes they don't, so you'll need to raise your hand and ask.
Or, if you feel like being a bastard, you can wait until your turn and then ask. By asking up front though, you can usually leave earlier (I've been close to last called on every time) and you help out other people who aren't familiar with the law.

edit: you get 1 deferral for moving violations and 1 deferral for non-moving violations, and each one has its own 7 year period, so you could defer two citations at the same time so long as they're not both moving or non-moving. The fee is up to the local jurisdiction, iirc, and it can either be some or all of the citation amount.

Those are the district court rules, municipal courts may have different standards.
