cool! i wonder if you can share the slideshow somehow. goodluck on wagon shopping! my two cents:
- dont be afraid of an automatic trans. it works really well with the turbo engine
- turbochargers are magic

I rallyx at the finger lakes region, glen region, and central new york region events. Food for thought, I am organizing an event here in wellsboro, which is 45 mins north of you.

No, but I just try to delete one picture, and I end up deleting my whole album.

It's easy to put the pics back up though.

I should probably get the app.

Anyway, here's a better pic of the dirtiness.

Hurricane Sandy's rain is washing away my dirtiness though

Nope, they are Continentals: DWS Extreme (dry, wet, snow) all seasons. After tearing quite a bit of them off at an airport for a free event, they certainly sucked after riding on my buddies BFGoodrich rally tires, lol!

Who is running the following tires and what do you think of them AFTER you have owned them for a while?:

Yokohama Geolander AT
BF Goodrich Rugged Terrain TA
General Grabber AT2

I am tired of being low. I am going to lift my car a bit and I want to be able to go off road. Plus be comfortable. Ive read tons of reviews. But I would like a review from fellow Impreza owners. I will be daily driving mostly on pavement. But I do go to the Navajo Indian reservation (dirt and muddy roads) and on spirited canyon runs on the dirt. The tarmac on the way to the canyon has alot of loose gravel and there are tight turns. Also I plan to go to Flagstaff AZ in the winter. So i need a tire that can perform on the ice and snow.

As nice as all of the three tires look, I can't find that any of them are made in sizes that will fit (depending on the monstrous lift you're thinking of getting and wheel choice as well). If they had them in a size for me, I'd take the Yokohamas They're all really aggresive tread patterns and have good durability (because the road driving wears them down more than anything).

Just for a general thing, it might not be a bad idea to go to the tire rack data base (or other site if you prefer) and check what is available in the size you have. They have just about everything.

215/65-16 will fit, and the General Grabbers come in that size...

I have the Yokos on my Outback, in 225/70r16 size. Been on for about 15,000 miles.

Decent grip on pavement, at least on par with the stock Conti all-seasons, but not a summer or performance tire. Excellent grip on dirt and gravel conditions. Good in mud and slop, but not a mud tire. Also good in sand, if aired down. If not, they will dig sugar sand and leave you stuck... Small rocks can get embedded in some of the open spot on tread, but not too badly. Road noise is a little more than all-seasons, but not noticeable with windows up, even at highway speeds.

They have a decent rep on snow and ice, but I've driven mine in those conditions, so I can't tell you personally.

The Grabbers look nicer, but I would have no problem buying another set of Yokos.

I had the Grabbers on my Baja for a couple years. I can not think of anything good to say about those tires. They were loud, wore to the point of being unusable in 20k miles, and had terrible grip in wet and snowy conditions. I used them offroad many times and they offered zero benefits over any other tires I could have had at the time. When I say offroad, I'm not talking about dirt fire access roads, but rocky trails where many lifted 4x4s were surprised to see a Baja. I would have gotten more enjoyment burning the cash than I did from spending it on those rubber hoops of disappointment and disdain.

I dont think i made myself clear. I want opinions from Impreza owners. I have been on tirerack.com, tons of off road websites. I failed to mention that, my fault. The reviews help but Id rather take a review from someone who drives a similar car. Just so i know what to kind of expect. But from what i have read, the Geolanders would be the way to go for me.

Thats the size I was planning on going with. I dont see why they wouldnt fit. Its the only size close to the stock size for my year Impreza.

THAT bad huh? I tend to think the Grabbers would be best for someone who lives on a farm or where there are no paved roads. i do mostly street driving but on occasion go on the dirt.

Dude, why you getting butthurt? You had no experience, so he's going with people who have it. Not that hard of a concept.

DD, I'm running Geolanders on my WRX in 215/75-15. Braid rims. They are ~1" bigger in diameter than the stock rubber. They aren't horrid, IMO, about equal with the all seasons on pavement, just more sidewall flex. A lot better off-road than the all seasons I have on my stock rims. The summer rubber had better grip on rocks than either of them, on sand or mud though, the Geos beat both.

Yeah, that was an early morning thing I guess. I can only think the concept of what size fits is a bit different for me then. I realize the wheels are different on my model, but a couple guys run that exact same wagon at our local rallycross events. Although he mentioned his car was lowered and wanted to lift it (or will have to before anything with that much sidewall will even fit). My apologies if anyone was offended. When I was directly quoted with a car that is not similar, well that was a bit Impreza WRX = Impreza WRX.

If all the research is there, post it up and get specifics. If you're general about it, then results should be expected to be general. Not a big deal. I'll keep my nose out of it, or I can ask some 'more experienced' guys with that exact same car how they achieved dynamic mastery in their wagon's suspension and tire/wheel combo if you want. Either way, not a big deal. Carry on

i'm wondering why you had such bad luck with these? i have a lifted 96 legacy thats running these, a jeep with these, and my lifted 90 legacy had these for probably at least 5 years and 20,000-30,000 miles before i sold it a few months back and they still had probably half tread. it saw plenty of offroad abuse because i went out about every weekend with friends with jeeps. i've even taken that car places in the snow that full size trucks wouldn't go.(long story but lets just say my step dad wouldn't talk to me for a while after that one)

Lol, it's all good, I'm like that more mornings than not lately too. Half the reason I avoid any forums till I've had some caffeine to even my ass out. Sorry if I came off like a pen-is at all too, since it was still somewhat early for me too.

Definitely agree he'll need a lift for any of the options, or at minimum, stock height (depending on the MY and body style). Definitely see the for the quoting with dissimilar body styles, though like you said, general question got some general answers.

I'd, at the very least, be interested to see what some of those experienced guys are running too. Then again they are probably over on DirtyImpreza just like most of the other dirty fellas. Just like I am.

So, I guess to the OP, hop on DI and see what some of the other guys there run. Most are on the Geos or the Grabbers, if they aren't running some rally rubber.

i wasnt expecting for people with Bajas and Outbacks to reply. But they are still appreciated. To be more specific, I wanted to only deal with Subaru owners.

Thanks for sticking up for me
Geolanders are definitely the front runners right now.

he didn't like it when his big bad ford f-250 couldn't make it up the snow covered alley behind his house. then i took the subaru up it with no problem and just to prove a point it went up it 3 more times. my car had grabbers and his truck had some sort of mud tire on it.
i'm happy with the performance of them. you just got to realize that it's an all terrain tire. it does everything pretty good. but if you want the best traction in snow buy a snow tire. if you want the best traction in mud buy a mud tire and if you want great performance on the street then buy a street tire. it's the perfect tire for what i want to use it for and i've had good luck with them. my friend that bought my lifted 90 legacy is still running the grabbers and he couldn't be happier with them. maybe a 1" lift and grabbers will find their way onto my wrx some day when money allows. be sure to check out DI

I have a set of grabber and absolutely love them sure they can be abit noisy on the freeway but nothing unbearable. They are a solid pick for the price. Also 215/65-16 will fit under stock suspension it'll rub but it'll fit.
