It is a Primitive Rally bar. They started with their standard bar, then beefed it up a bit with larger tubes, so it fits in with the larger 2010+ Outbacks. So along with the front hoop, they added protection down low for fog lights (which I don't have, but it protects the bumper) and a bull bar up top. Which is handy for... hanging things on.

I know I don't have the only one... but I've only seen pictures of one other. And I doubt I'll ever see one in person other than mine. It's overkill as a light bar. You can (or at least I can) stand on it and bounce, and it moves with the car. I like it!

Here's a run from the event this past Saturday. Texas Rallysport kickin' @$$ with 54 entries! I placed 2nd (my best ever, a couple 3rds, 4ths, and below, lol). Epic day, great track, and awesome people!

I know it's a weak launch, but it's also my daily so... :P

Thanks Texas Rallysport isn't quite the same as SCCA, but I've done 2 events in prepared AWD with the same set up.

The tires are Kuhmo KW-11's. Picked them up brand new for $250
A guy moved from Seattle and had them studded so I had to pull all the studs out not fun, lol.

Been debating getting into rallycross... I do street (or did)... run the Pilot super sports on asphalt... Not sure what the best dirt/gravel tires are...

Depends on the terrain they run on in your area. Ask some of the locals on DI. I wouldn't be surprised if snows are used often out there.

That particular track in the video, street tires (all-seasons) were making great times too. Those with dedicated rally tires blew everyone away. The snows are great for acceleration and stopping here, but in turns the soft sidewalls show there weakness. I rally Continental DWS Extremes for my first season and they did awesome (then fell apart all at once, lol). Softer dirt or gravel will kill the standard all seasons though due to lack of grip/dig. Dirty Impreza is definitely the place to go for rally specific questions.

Pirelli's mounted on braids. Was looking forward to trying them out tomorrow, but a stupid pointless organ decided it needed to be removed immediately...

Big thanks to Joe and Ryan down at Moore Performance fighting with these stiff s.o.b to get them on the wheel.

Just the light angle. They are more of a graphite.

Surgery went well. I was home about 18 hours after surgery and am doing pretty good today. Able to do most of what I need to do unassisted. Still have some issues with socks though. lol.

Beautiful wheels and tires Watson! I'd love to see them in action! Where did you get a Pirelli distributor contact?!

I got em from here http://www.rockymtnautosports.com/ but it seems like they are out of these tires. Still have some yokos though.

It's really cool seeing on the tire for worldrallychampionship use only and the fia bar codes on them.

I've been waiting for today since the last run of last months event and I can't run. So upset.

I hope your not driving very far on tarmac with those Pirelli's. They'll get eaten up way quick! A few miles here and there are fine, but any kind of extended distances is no bueno. The leading edges of the tread blocks get super hot.

wasn't planning on it. Drove it home because I kinda had to.(didn't really have to but you know) and then the whole emergency surgery thing, I had to put a few miles on them. They'll be but back to street tires very soon.

My new studless snows need the lettering painted...down to yellow or blue. Goodyear Nordic something or others, yellow would be a bit too nascar'y. I like the idea of blue since factory interior accent is blue and my rattle canned wheels are as well. But the above pic with the Pirellis looks awesome in yellow.
