Awesome - if this were a wagon, it would be almost identical to what I have planned. Right color and everything. The only difference is (while your wheels are cool and all) I want a set of 15x7 rally wheels in white or gold.

I was really pumped when I saw the creation of this thread. I was sitting here the other day wondering what I could do to my car that would make it a little less street race'ish and a little more rally'ish. I'm about to pick up a new 09 WRX prem 5 door, and I have noticed that there isnt really much out there for the newer models. I was hoping to at least find a light bar. Maybe sometime down the road, a company will make something for the 08/09. But I do like yalls cars all done up, killer thread!

I do believe that Rally Innovations makes a light bar for the 08/09 models. Their website is a little outdated, but I know I've seen one in the forums somewhere...

$400 is a good price. I paid more than 2x that, but the previous owner did a lot of maintenance, and I really wanted it...

They were all 1.2L 3-cyl motors, but came in auto, auto 4wd, 5sp, and 5sp 4wd. The 4wd is selectable via a button on the shifter. Avoid the auto's like the plague. It was a CVT tranny that loves to break. All the auto ones are now great sources of parts for the 5sp models.

My particular one (1988) is carbureted and makes 68hp. In '89 they switched to FI and bumped the power to 77hp. I haven't been tracking my mileage too closely, but it's only a 6.5-7.0 gallon tank and I can drive it for at least a week on that. Many owners report about 45mpg if driven conservatively. Eat that Prius. Curb weight is 1806lbs, if I recall correctly.

It absolutely rocks in the snow. You can come to a stop in 6-7" and just let it rip and drive right out.

Flat-out in 5th it'll go 83mph (not suitable for time travel). Maybe faster with a tailwind, or a hill.

I know I'm rambling at this point, but it's such a fun car...

^haha that DOES sound like a fun little car! Lightweight, compact, 5spd and 4WD what more can you ask for. Not gonna set a land speed record or win a beauty contest with that thing though good luck with it.

Wasn't there an article in one of the Subaru Drive magazines that had a justy that did in fact set some sort of land speed record at Bonneville? It was an odd class, if I remember, and it topped out at like 117 MPH

Here's the Justy article:

119 HP @ 9000 RPM's sounds like fun!

No way, you can go bigger! I ran 225/55/16 all-season and 205/60/16 winter tires on my 03 TS wagon at stock ride height with no issues. I even had sedan control arms and lateral links, which pushed the wheels out towards the fender edges. It probably helped that I was running a fair big of negative camber.

Big tires FTW!
