Subaru has officially died in my book with the release of this car. If this is their new look I never want to own a Subaru again. I loved my Bugeye WRX and I love my Legacy GT, they look great, have character and are different. But this looks like CRAP!! Good going Subaru your going to drive yourself right out of business. Even the interior I think looks worse. It looks like they tried way to hard to put NAV in and couldn't figure it out so they just threw a big square in there.

I hope my Legacy lasts a long time because I don't see myself buying another Subaru for a very very long time, until they fire their entire design team at least. Just hire some folks from Prodrive to design it, it's that simple. If your going to make a Hatch, make it 2 DOORS!!. And get rid of that front end now before all the horrible reviews come in from the Press. BTW that Astra on the first page looks pretty hot. Hell even that Kia looked better.

I was an american car guy...

Then along came my subaru...

But with the combination of:
a. People rocking gold wheels on every rice car on gods green earth (see recent thread).
b. The amount of subaru hood scoops I've seen this week on cars other then subaru.
c. This hideous monster of a vehicle

I think I'm going to withdraw my "lifetime owner" subaru card that I would have proudly waved 2 years ago when I bought my rex.

There are plenty of new cars coming out over the next few years that offer performance/handling/overall driving quality that the subaru once held as a monopoly in the sub-$25K car range. I'm trully repulsed that Subaru could be this stupid.

Maybe if Subaru would get it through their thick heads they are killing their loyal customers. Just look at the posts above ^^

As long as Subaru keeps designing this CRAP!! they won't see another dollar from me or many other previous owners I am guessing. And they probably won't see to many new customers either.

If thats what the wagon is going to look like I think it still gives us a little glimpse of what the sedan front end may look like as well and its not good. Does subaru really think that looks good and is going to sell well?

The same person that thought the Tribeca looked great probably thinks this one is great too. For the 99% of the other people though, well they don't matter.

Ok gotta stop bashing, it's not like Subaru is going to do anything about it.

I think this is MOST of what the actual car will look like. If you compare the magazine photos to the "test mule spyshots," you can see how very similar they are. Sideskirts and a few minor details are different...

One thing I JUST noticed...

vs.

Notice, in the side view, that the headlights are much more pointed, toward the rear? But in the front view, they don't wrap around as much. And it's not poor perception of foreshortening. So, yes, I think there's still quite a bit of at least cosmetic Photoshop work going on.

We know the grille will look like that, or at least close to it, with the new corporate appearance. But there will always be JDM grilles, just like always.

Like mine.

The interior is indeed drab. I'd made a comment in another thread, that maybe it was from a TR or otherwise base version. But I didn't think of the navigation screen, which most definitely wouldn't be in a base car. I somehow doubt they'd go back to all-black, with all of the effort they've been putting in to silver trim bits, especially since the 2005 dash revamp.
(Except for the S204 and some other "blacked out" dashes.)

Regarding the brakes, well it's a backward step IF they aren't Legacy GT calipers/rotors. The car is indeed built off of the Legacy platform, only shortened, just like the previous iterations. You also see a lot of the Legacy in the hood.

I'm echoing a lot of sentiments in this FAQ thread, by Beaverboy:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1230616

If they aren't Legacy brakes, maybe the real car does still have the good brakes. If not, they'll be introduced back in a year or two, or if not, a new version. Just because, usually the first 1-2 model years are kept low-key, so the special editions can come later.

I love hatchbacks, so that part makes me happy. The rest? I'll wait to check it out in person.

I don't think it looks all that bad, it is just the grill that needs to go. Hmm, but the one two posts above this has a much better looking grill. I think I may like the car once I have some time for it to grow on me. Much like the bugeye....

That FMIC looks really small to me.

The IC looks just like mine on the Legacy GT. Which means its larger overall and more efficient then a WRX now. Plus the plastic intake manifold is also more efficient and helps keep underhood temps down. Thats about all the new impreza has going for it, my legacy already has all of that though

If I was easily influenced by others, I would have bought a far more attractive car then a bugeye WRX. 90% of the population thinks my car is ugly as ****, and that doesn't bother me one bit. I liked my car because of how unique it was, as well as the obvious benefits of ownership (quickness, handling, AWD, etc.), and I also found the car to be fairly good-looking personally.

Actually, my biggest problem with owning a subaru is the fact that I can't even post my opinion in a forum such as this one without someone else critiquing my opinion with some smartass comment. It's not like I asked anyone to agree with me, I just stated what I thought. But thank you for analyzing my personality based on a three-line post that I made about an ugly car.

So if you bought a car 90% of the population thinks is ugly, why do you care that some people put gold wheels and hood scoops on their cars? Why does that make you less likely to be a Subaru fan for life?

I wasn't criticizing your opinion. Just trying to understand it.

IMHO, I think Subaru redesigned the Impreza for the WRC. We'll all get used to the design over time. Remember when the 04 models came out? I knew a lot of people that didn't like the design but they got used to it. How about the front face redesign of the 06? We all hated it but we got used to it. Look at it this way, its something new and we're all going to hate it but we'll get used to it.

Remember the 07 vaginamouth changeover? Every subaru guy I know hated it at first and now a lot of them like it. Maybe it comes with magic kool-aid that makes it look better.
