Default Paint Care Thread

alright, the sun is out and soon enough it will be time to do a nice full proper detail and enjoy for a while!

so what kinda products do you guys use or know about out there that do a good job to make the paint look perfect!
-scratches
-chips
-swirls
-and w/e else can happen to paint that needs a little bit of tender loving care

i finally did the whole claybar thing last year and it works wonders

for me i have noticed i have several medium deep scratches, two very deep.. all just clear coat tho.. (i think) and then just swirls all over the entire car.. i have heard that Maguires has a several step process that can removed those kinda things. But theres so many different stages i just get lost with all the stuff... what are the best products to use to remove these kinda things

for deep scratches, I'd probably just say to stop by a detail shop and ask them to do a spot treatment sort of thing , they did that for me once... wet sanded the scratched area down a bit then buffed it out... charged about 20 bucks but it looked perfect... I'd rather not wetsand my own car out of fear of screwing up somehow haha...

to get rid of swirls, you need a polish... I'm not a big fan of meguiar's Scratch-X, didn't work too well for me but others may think differently... Don't forget to finish up with a good wax

just a note: once you're done with a claybar and it looks too dirty to use on the car's paint anymore, you can still use it for other things like glass/rims...

I gotta be honest..looking at all the things to do from washing..claybarring..polishing..waxxing..I'm more tempted to just send the car in to a pro. shop to do it! -- for fear that I'll end up doing a horrible job ><
