Default Stupid Rota Rims

Hey guys
I bought the 17" Rota Tarmac II's last year (full royal gold) and they looked awesome. This winter I put them in my heated storage in my condo for 3 monthes and when i took them out, the finish was all corroted, I tried to scrape it off but it takes all the coating with it. Now I have 4 rims with a nasty finish, I duno what the heck to do, They are basically brand new. Anyone else had anything like this happen to them?

Get them powdercoated or sand them down and paint them.

Agreed - powdercoat 'em. I had Rotas on my old 2000 RS and loved them.

Sometimes in the process of when they powder coat, dip, or paint them if the rim wasn't clean properly for some reason it will start bubbling under the coating... This type of deffect should be covered under warranty! BUt normal wear and tear is not, so it depends how it's corroading.

ya if they were sitting in a dry, semi warm place in storage there is no reason at all for them to do that... got any pics of it?

this should be covered by rota... give them a shout...

and heck, as long as they aren't soaking in crazy storage room acid there isn't really a reason for them to corrode...

NuBrite will charge you $150/corner to refinish them.
At that price, you're almost better of buying new Rotas.

You can always get away cheaper by doing them yourself. 3 cans of Duplicolor wheel paint, some etching primer, and 2 cans of clear coat should be enough to cover all 4. Just sand and prep properly, and you can't go wrong.

Doesn't hurt to give it a try yourself if they are screwed anyways. Plus, if it works out you will feel that much better about them.

there's a great thread in the interior and exterior forum on painting wheels. Give it a shot, it's easy to do. If you need any advice, or have any questions, feel free to pm me as I've done a lot of wheels in the past.

hey thanx guys. I definately feel this is a defect. I know that there is no way rims should become corroted like this after 90 days in a heated dry storage. But if they wont cover it, I will powdercoat.
