Default headlight problem

the driver side headlight will sometimes not light up when i turn my headlights on. It isnt a common problem, it just happens for reasons i cant figure out yet.

Then later, It will light up again without any problems, and this isnt in the middle of driving. it works fine some other time i start up the car, and turn the headlights on.

The only other known electrical problem, though i am not sure of this is the climate control lights. Im not sure if 93L's have climate control lights, but if they do mine do not work. Maybe a hint/clue that could help toward the main prob?

So far im thinking its a loose connection maybe, or a bad bulb, im not sure exactly, but if someone has had this problem before, or if its an electrical problem, i wanna know whats wrong exactly so i dont blow a bunch of money when the solution is just a few bucks.

Have you installed high intensity bulbs? My impreza had similar problems and when I checked the connection at the headlight, it had gotten so hot that the plastic connector had melted and was only occasionally maintaining contact.

Just a thought

its completely stock. i just came back from an auto shop who diagnosed it, it was quick so i dunno, but they're saying its the headlight switch.

would make a hell of alot of sense since my highbeam does not lock on, and both lights DO work that way.

they checked listings for the switch its friggin $554, plus labor. (I sure as hell do not wanna replace it)

anyway, if i have to....
we're subie owners, im sure someone knows where to get a head light switch for much cheaper? One with a warrantee or SOMETHING.

ive checked the wiring, its ok, the bulb is ok,

but when i checked the fuse box, i found (i didnt do anything with it until now)
a 15A fuse in the light switch socket. its supposed to be a 20A fuse.

After replacing the fuses...nothing.
Could this affect the switch itself then?
