WTB: GC Impreza Suspension

Hi all -

After deciding to keep my wife's car as a commuter car, I've decided I want to do some dirt cheap mods to it. Anyone have an RS suspension lying around - stock or otherwise? I'd be willing to take it off your hands!

It's for a 95L, but I'm pretty sure 98-01 RS stuff still fits.

Pretty sure it does, too. Unfortunately I sold mine 3-4 years ago for like $100.

Someone may have a set. Try www.RS25.com, too. A decent, cheap option would be stock (or RS) springs on KYB GR2 struts. They're a nice step over stock, but not really high-performance.

Though you may already know that.

I'll have a set of KYB AGX with eibach pro springs available completely assembled with tophats in a month or so.

I have to build my koni inserts first.

...and get a new tranny before that.

Tranny should be in by next week...I'm just digging the car out of 3ft of ice so that it can be towed.

Dave where did you purchase your koni inserts? Is there a write up anywhere on how to gut the old struts? What springs are you going to be using?

I just swaped out the suspention on my RS a few weeks ago... was painfully easy! I still have it sitting around too... Sat a bit low one one of the rears but eh lol

Haven't bought the inserts yet, but I googled for a bit and found them cheap.

There's a write-up that comes with them and on these forums if you search around.

I'll be going with the GC/STi Tarmac (Gymkhana) springs. ~280lb front, 270lb rear.

Brian (North Ursalia) already killed one or two of those struts.

I just don't think they're great for bumpy roads and stuff. Though, obviously awesome for track/autocross.

I have Megan racing coilovers on my RS and I would have to say they suck. Dampening deosnt match the spring rate and adjusting them seems to make no difference in dampening. Not to mention the rear jumps on large bumps on the highway.

I had the WR setup for a bit.

It is definitely worth it...I just needed more adjustability to fit my car.

As for the megans, Jake (KONKILR) autoX's like a monkey, so you may want to consider what he says.

Dave, how does the WR setup and say group n topmounts compare to something like the megans if you take out the adjustably factor of the coilover?

The WR setup is perfectly valved for the springs it comes with. It's comfortable, it handles well, it doesn't roll too much on hard corners either.

I haven't tried the megans, so I can't really comment on that. Sorry.
