Legacy 08 Spec B v. 08 LGT 5MT

Ok folks question for yah. Given the pricing difference of 5-6k of the Spec B v. LGT 5MT what would you guys choose and why?

Is the 6MT, Torsen Diffy, VDC, and Navi worth the 5-6k?

Discuss....

I would go spec. B for the beefed up tranny alone. It's worth the peice of mind that when you go for the turbo upgrade your not gonna have metal shavings and chunks falling out of the bottom of your ride everytime you pass someone on the highway.

If you can afford the the 5-6K more...

I say get the spec B... Yes the 6spd, Diff, VDC, Nav, suspension, etc is worth the money in my eyes.

I like the look of the new Spec B too overall... so GO GET ONE...

I've been thinking about buying one too...

Spec B gets my vote. Don't care much for the SatNav, but the drive-train is a separate matter.

in stock form the 5mt feels fastAr... but hte 6mt is stronger... oh, STI short shifters also DONT work in em'.

navigation, leather/suede seats, suspension(better, but not great) are all blingy bonuses...

i think they killed hte verion i had, no sunroof/leather/power seats... personally i liked the solid roof and lack of BS add-ons.

4K will get you alot in suspension and power upgrades good news, ECUTEK now tunes SI-Drive too

legacy = sex either way

Keep the input coming. If I could get the Spec B w/o the navi I'd be all over it w/o a question.

And you can always get a better deal on regular GT, so it's more than 4K difference.

Many other salesman at my dealership think the same ;-)

I'll be paying a fixed price below invoice so it's fairly fixed at 4-5k difference.

If it helps, the SS for the spec.B 6MT feels super smooth compared to the SS in the LGT 5MT.

No to seem hasty; test drive them both then form an opinion based on that. Different people want to fulfill different aspirations. If money is no object and you NEED the 6MT for future HP and performance upgrades then maybe the extra investment is worth it now. If it's going to be a daily driver with minimal modification and limited competitive driving then all the additional expense may be excessive. Either way, Legacy FTW!

If you do get the Spec B and delete the Navi I may be interested in making it fit in my Legacy.

Yeah drove the 5MT LGT, have to test out the Spec B our landlord has.

Not going to upgrade the power, but it'll see HPDE days. How much is the Navi worth to you

the NAVI and radio units have to be sold together... from what i hear.

hell that newer MP3 capable radio is worth $$ to many.. i'll be putting the Aux-In mod on my old GT sooner or later for my brother, then he can rock out to his IPOD otherwise 6CD's aint all that bad.

FYI: the 07 Spec B NAVI couldnt guide EdKwon and I to Laguna Seca Raceway...it got us lost 3 times! somehow i dont think Subaru wants you taking the GT's to the track

Personally, I love my GT. As for your needs, if youre going to be upgrading the suspension and dont need all the extra frills that the spec b provides, save the 5k+ and invest that in a new suspension and other little doo-dads that will work with your interests. Although Im no expert the 6 speed, which is very nice, may not be what you really need for the HPDE days. Especially since, like was mentioned before, you can get better deals on GTs than Spec Bs no matter new or used.

Spec B. Hands down. The price difference is definitely worth it IMHO.

Also, highway mpg is at least 1 mpg better on spec.B because of the taller ratio.

The upgrade is worth it, just for the transmission, and VDC. The Nav is important if you ever plan on having it, because both the LGT and the spec.B have very limited upgrade options (stereo & HVAC are intergrated). The question is, can you afford it?

Car and Driver grabbed a Legacy GT, threw some electronically adjusted Tein coil overs and a different set of tires on it, and it supposedly nicely outhandled the Spec-B. $1700 vs. $4000+, and if you don't care about nav, that stands for something.
