Default Changing CV boots, forgot how to put back CV joint bearing

first off thanks if anyone knows,

I am changing out the CV boots on my front axle for a MY04 STI. I took apart the inner CV joint, and forgot how to put it back together.
Does anyone know which way the pumpkin thing goes on?

Anyone know?

The ball cage has an opening which is smaller than the other. Does the smaller go inside toward the axle, or outside toward the tranny?

Sorry for bringing this back from the dead but I am in the same situation right now. There is a machined groove on one side of the cage and I am wondering if it faces the transmission or the wheel side of the axle.

Thanks
