Default 2006 Mazdaspeed6 stock, 13.579 @ 99.31 *Video/Slip post #1*

I used to own a 2002 wrx, so i thought it was cool to post in here. I have many times before, if not then lock it out. I understand.

Yesterday was an awesome day. I ran what may be one of the fasted times i have seen for a 100% stock MS6.

Lastly, should i tell people i run a 13.57 or a 13.58. it may not sound like a lot, but i dont want to piss anyone spitting out a number.

Run 1
60' = 1.825
330 = 5.528
1/8 = 8.646
mph = 79.14
1000 = 11.309
1/4 = 13.581
mph = 99.03

Run 2
60' = 1.908
330 = 5.665
1/8 = 8.776
mph = 78.97
1000 = 11.453
1/4 = 13.740
mph = 98.79

Run 3
60' = 1.897
330 = 5.635
1/8 = 8.766
mph = 78.57
1000 = 11.449
1/4 = 13.732
mph = 98.64

Run 4
60' = 1.877
330 = 5.603
1/8 = 8.729
mph = 78.97
1000 = 11.412
1/4 = 13.699
mph = 98.81

Run 5
60' = 1.836
330 = 5.539
1/8 = 8.639
mph = 79.58
1000 = 11.303
1/4 = 13.579
mph = 99.31

They were at least 3 or 4 good drivers over on the Mazda 6 forums that turned 13.7's stock.

Great time!!!

That's an awesome time! I wonder when Subaru will start doing direct injection in their motors...

that car is pretty quick! is that direct injection? Is it any harder to mod than a wrx?

Great 60' times for a FWD!! Seems like it hooks up as well as the SRT4s and probably better than a FWD DSM.

It is AWD and Direct Injection. it is the 2.3l 4 banger with a K04 (i am about 99% sure of this).

There are a lot of people with times in the 14s, but there are also a ton with times in the 13.8s area. only a few stockers are below a 13.7.

The car takes well to mods. unlike subies, adding a BOV and CAI actually helps this car. The problem is lack of aftermarket, but it is growing. There are a few companies working on EM. I am planning to stay stock, especially with this time out of the box. But things always change. If i can find a quite BOV, CAI, and a quite exhaust to go a long with some EM. than i may change my mind.

Thanks for the props.

Wow that's faster than Mazda's "flagship" RX-8 by a good margin.

Nice time.

I test drove the Speed 6 (for fun) a couple weeks ago and was very impressed. While not as fast as my stage 2 Sti with meth, I thought it would give my STi with Front/rear swaybars a run for the money in an autox.

Really.. That is interesting.. I'm kind of tempted to test drive a Mazdaspeed 3. I hear it handles great and lots of power. Before anyone comments on the FWD, I don't want to hear it. Less driveline loss for the win.. =)

The aftermarket is slowly building. Apperently the ECU is a biotch to figure out for the tuners. It is completely different from the Speed3.

Nice times man, I used to own an 04 WRX, and have since switched over to the MS6.

They respond pretty well to mods, last time I was on a dyno, with just a AEM CAI & 1G DSM BOV/BPV (as our stock plastic pos BOV leaks) I was putting down 257whp & 305wtq while the 2 other stock MS6's that were there only put down 223whp & 228whp. So definately responds well, just so weird to think of putting on an intake & BOV after coming from Nasioc.

The AWD system is basically Haldex based, with a rear LSD. Actually not too long ago, on accident, I found out how to make the car FWD by unplugging the cable going into the AWD control module, while installing a DTEC FCBC on my car lol.

Hey TecnoWRX I'm assuming you're Sofa King over on mazda6club, nice times man! My other screen name over there is arctic_blue83 it's nice to see someone who knows how to drive, I'll probably be hitting up the track in May when Bandimere opens, although I'm not expecting the greatest times as Bandimere is at 5800ft

[I have removed my comments about the diifferential because I was only going by fallible printed material - it's not my car. I just test drove it . Posted after the last guy without seeing his post.]

I can say it handled better than the Legacy GT Spec B I test drove a few days earlier (but it did not seem as fast). But test drive one yourself and see. It's a nice comfy ride with great handling (and brakes).

You're correct except that our limited slip is actually in the rear. The front to rear distribution varies from 100:0 to 50:50, the only time it achieves 100:0 is under 2 conditions 1)the e-brake is engaged, 2)low speed parking lot maneuvers, basically turning while going under 5mph.

That's weird, when I test drove both a MS6 & LGT, the MS6 actually felt faster?!? I don't want to get the thread locked, but later on I proved that theory to myself. Although I really did love the LGT, it was the price that sold me on my MS6, I ended up paying $24k for a brand new '06 sport.

You have the screen names correct. The track i went is at 320ft elevation. I am considering the 1G BOV/BPV and the mazdaspeed CAI. It is weird that the mods on the Speed6 are wanted,but are hated on the wrx. i.e. CAI and BOV. I was hoping for a 13.8, but after the 1st run of 13.58 i was super excited. Not bad for a stock car.

I drove the Speed6 just like i drove the wrx at the track. My best time was a 13.67 @ 100. i had an 02 with intake, FMIC, TBE, lightned pullies. Not the ideal mods, but it ran well

BTW, when did a 13 second car almost become the norm? It seems like there are a lot of them out there, stock and slightly modded.

I paid $25k for a 2006 GT 12/23/06. it was a demo car though, i probably could have gotten more off of the price, but they werent budging.

I was going off my very fallible butt dyno. They are different since the LGT Spec B is torquier. Nontheless Edmunds shows a 1/4 mile of 14.1 for the LGT and 14.3 for the MS6 (which is much slower than your run). That could very well be driver error. I would be amazed to hear of an LGT go 13.5, but I don't follow those LGT times much.

In any case, the MS6 is a great car, and after this post seems even faster than I thought.

my good friend has a ms6 with aem intake, magnaflow catback, cpe short shifter and pitch stop motor mount.

All of that was good for a 13.91 @ 99.xx...

His best run w/ only CAI and pitch stop was a 14.5 @ ~95.

I used to slowly pull away from him in my stg. 2 wrx but now he slowly pulls on me! I think when EM is available and he gets a nice downpipe it will really scream.

So, yeah, your run is really damn fast for a stock ms6...I think less than 1 in 10 ms6 owners are breaking 14s STOCK...

i have a buddy with a stage 2 and another with a stage 4 wrx. The best for the stage 2 was in the mid 14s. the best for the stage 4 was suppposedly a 12.5. I did not see the slip. The best run i saw though was a 13.2. I would like to run both of them if i get a chance.
