Default OT Eccentrics

It seems there aren’t many true eccentrics around these days. Everyone is trying to conform too much. It used to be all the interesting people were a little eccentric is some way or another.

Would you consider yourself to be an eccentric?

Yes and no...I think this goes for just about everyone. We all have our little quirks...but if you are talking eccentric as in Hunter S. Thompson then no, very few of us are that eccentric...

I'm a little eccentric. The world is different now. There is no such thing as a real eccentric, because say you have an interest in night-watching fruit bats. I'm sure there's an internet site and forum, yahoo group, flickr group and local chapter of a national fruit-bat watching organization to cater to you. Everything is mainstream now, if you look for like-minded people, and you can find them easily in 2007.

I say I'm eccentric because of my weirdly varied interests. I'm an STi-track day/autocrossing, pet skunk having, guitar/piano playing/jam-band loving, online poker playing, football playing, photo/watch/cooking nut pediatric ophthalmologist. Most people in my field are pretty simple and boring, so I guess that's were I would be considered eccentric, when compared with other people in similar careers/lifestyles.

My partners think I'm a little nuts. I'd tend to agree, but like I said above, what "norm" are you comparing yourself to to be considered eccentric?

I'm somewhat practiced in disguising the fact that I am just barely able to function in everyday society.

I'm typing this from a germ free clean room on my zoo-like ranch. My friends bobo the chimp and some washed up child actor are here hangin' with me.

I wouldn't consider myself eccentric.

I'd say I am. I don't tow the party line. I'm a gun-toting liberal junior pornographer who spends his spare time running and shooting dogs in a fringe sport few know about. I like my pink bathroom. I wish my wife would stick her fingers up my ass more, etc. etc.

I am not special. I do not have a false sense of smugness to cover my insecurities and shortcomings, and I recognize that I am not infallable and my opinion doesn't actually matter.

In OT, this makes me eccentric.

I'm eccentric, and look how much **** I get from people.

I'm not surprised many people don't act like individuals.

No you're not.

You're a whiny, self-congratulating, attention-whore nomad.

I've taken the online versions of the AQ, SQ, EQ and Eyes tests. I'm DEEP into Asperger territory in 3/4.

Anyone taken the above or the Meyers-Briggs instrument?

interesting stuff

I did the MB test with my school's co-op institute as part of some 'working with other personality types' seminar.

I'm drawing a blank on what exactly I rated as but I was borderline between two types; I'll check it when I get home tonight. Something about being a very persuasive yet empathetic person with good attention to detail but who can lose interest in projects if they get boring, I think.
