its such a scam.. you can get it done by yourself or buy a trusted mechanic and pay way less.. all dealerships care about is making money.. thats all that is on there minds. they dont care about you or your car...

+1 for your own personal mechanic.
You can probably get it serviced for well under $400 easily. |

I did my 48k myself. IIRC, it was a coolant drain and flush, oil change, diff oil change, transmission oil change . . . er, am I forgetting anything?
Total cost: price of oil. ![]() |

For those of you who flush your own coolant, where do you get rid of it? That's always been my dilemma in doing my own rad flushes. |

![]() My brother works at a Honda dealership, so he can dispose of it. I imagine Canadian Tire would take it as well. |

One thing to keep in mind if doing your own work, make sure to keep the receipts for oil and parts/liquids etc. It is worth making a "logbook" of service for your car...when it comes time to get warranty work done or re-sell the car this could save a lot of headaches.

but i figure that if you do plan on selling your car, having it done at a dealership sounds a lot better then DIY, no???

Sure. But if you have documentation which proves you've done a 48k service, or service every 6k, it works just as well. Whether its Rocket Rally or DIY, I always document all my servicing if/when I sell my car.

If the right price and right buyer came around, I'd sell the STi in a heartbeat. Last weekend was my one year anniversary with her.
But anyways, back on topic... Eric, I PM'd you ![]() |

all of which are reasonably cheap things to do... just a bit time consuming = pricey at dealership

I don't remember seeing clutch fluid on the 48k list - and I'm 99% sure the factory manual says 96K for the WRX plugs. I had already changed the brake fluid, so that wasn't an issue. Yeah, I guess I should have done PCV.
